Exactly! First
Beats are just a mediocre sounding fashion statement.pplz wanting PROPER fidelity choose, senns, beyers, stax, grados etc.
Forgot to mention they fall apart easy and make ridiculous booming noises if you decide to walk around while wearing a pair.
They don’t sound bad, but for the price there are much better options indeed.
A while ago, I listened to 150$ Audio Technica headphones, using a DIY hifi headphone amp.
I’ve never heard a better sound. Truly.
In comparison, Dr. Dre headphones suck, they just give a boomy bass.
I have a pair of Grados, well allesandros, but same thing. Love em!
Alessandro MS-1 here. So good.

Have you ever listened to a pair of Beats headphones? Like for example, at one of best buy’s listening stations? You don’t have to be a professional producer to realize they sound better; in fact, you’d have to either be deaf or unfathomably stupid to not hear the difference in quality (even between the various tiers of Beats headphones).
I wish I had the money for a pair…
This.
I have, it didn’t sound better than my skull candy though.
Skull Candy’s are just the same as Beats – pieces of crap that only sell due to marketing/branding and looks. My brother bought a pair and due to the shape of the headphones they don’t even stay pressed against the ears (they’re shaped sort of like an “n” totally straight down whereas they should be more circular to hug the ears). If you honestly think Skull Candy headphones are good quality then you are an idiot.
Sennheiser C400s: £20
iBeats: £70
No difference in quality. And I know a lot about quality audio.
And you have the cheek to say Skull Candy phones are “crap that only sell due to marketing”. I gotta say, that’s pretty rich.
I play violin since I was 5. Listening to music on headset since 12yo. Without weekends or holidays. Tried a lot of various headsets. And when my friend got himself studio beats and let me try em, I came. Literally.
Screw design. They are too loud to listen in public. Batteries die fast. But it was THE best sound I’ve ever experienced.
So… You literally jizzed in your pants? Is that what you’re saying?
Playing the violin since age 5 doesn’t mean you know a damn thing about audio. I’ve engineered for dozens of top 40 artists and I know a thing or two about audio. You’re dead flat out wrong. I can prove this to you quite easily:
Here’s a set of the beat things:
http://content.reviewed.com/products/2830/specs/5331/freq.gif
And some Beyerdynamic DT-990s
http://content.reviewed.com/products/2836/specs/5331/freq.gif
So, there it is, plain scientific proof. Not too much arguing you can do when presented with real data.
Turtle Beach X11′s: $60
I use them for both my xbox and pc. The sound quality is great on xbox and the mic clarity is good, but if you’re strictly looking for a pc headset, you can get better for $60. Then again, I’m not very experienced in comparing sound quality.
You’d look like an idiot if you wore ‘em to school.
Actually, if you wore them to my school, you’ed look like a cool person. Of course, most of are fakes.
I’m using Creative Sound Blaster Tactic 3D Alpha headphones through an X-Fi Titanium Fatality Champion sound card on my desktop and the clarity across the frequencies is pure as hell, perfect to master with and my profession justifies the cost (Sound Engineer). Headphones: £60. Sound card: £170.
Getting expensive headphones is all well and good, but if the audio source is of “average consumer” quality (60Hz to 16khz) then all Dre’s will do is enhance the low-end that your old Logitech’s couldn’t quite drive. It’ll still sound heavy and muddy but if you’re used to buying the gimmicks then you won’t know any different and happy listening to you if this is what you’re looking for.
There aren’t wrong ways to listen to music, just better ways.
I have those same exact headphones and I am very happy with them too. Though I just use them for gaming and not music.
Please, do try the SkullCandy Skullcrusher headphones. Then prove me wrong. Go right ahead.
but they are. I have a pair of skullcandy icons, the most basic ones you can buy, and they sound freakin amazing. and they are not pieces of crap, these things would last forever if you don’t throw them or stomp on them. and they fit my head perfectly. but they might only sound better because my previous headphones were really cheap pieces of crap from wal mart.
Funny, Wal mart carries the full line of Dr. Dre beats headphones….. Correlation?
Skull candy is really good for their price, idk what you are talking about. Compared to all the other headphones I’ve owned, my skull candy ones are by far the best. On the other hand don’t get me started with apple headphones, they are god awful…
Yep. I had two pairs of Apple earbuds die on the left side within a month of getting them. I decided to give up after the second pair since the nearest Apple Store is almost an hour away.
You should check Beyerdynamic, AKG or Ultrasone…
I´ve got the K701 from AKG on my Hifi-Setup.
Screw that cheap beats-stuff
I’ve got Philips HP195, and it sounds better than everything what you ever can buy, even with only one working channel.
i think you missed the joke.
you just didn’t get it. yeah it soud really good in comparison with 30$ earplugs.
but 300$? are you kidding me? you can buy audiophile headphones for that price.
dont know why but dr dre beats somehow appeal people who trust adversment too much. and mediately after purchase they have to say the whole world how much they are awsome. they usually produce something like this:
Sup brah. These headphones suck, brah. I got me some dr dre beats and they are SICK, brah. The bass is all BOOM BOOM, brah. I’ll let you borrow them sometime…
just because dre endorses them and they sound good, doesnt mean they are the best shoes, nikes are good shoes, but there are better ones for running a mile
My $70 earbuds sound better than the $200 dre headphones that I’ve tried out.
Dre headphones sound better than what?
Buds are going to blow your eardrums, headphones are seriously the way to go.
Have you ever listened to any other good quality headphones? Beats are supposed to be amazing, but they’re only well known because they’re by Dr. Dre. If you were to check online and look at what professionals think, you would realize that on a scale of 1-10, Beats are around a 7, whereas other headphones, such as V-Modo (just an example), are a 9, yet the exact same price, most likely because they’re not marketed by a famous musician.
and by “by dr. dre,” you mean the same way that air jordans are “by michael jordan”
Can’t tell if troll or just tone deaf, but judging buy the fact you can’t even afford a pair of headphones I’ll just assume you’re a failure in general.
I own the Audio-Technica ATH-M50 for closed and Sennheiser HD600 for open and they both make anything coming out of Beats sound like that Fred guy talkin through a tin can.
I have a pair of Sennheiser HD558 and they sound pretty darn good. the instruments seperation is clear and vibrant, the bass doesn’t wash out other elements, the higher tones sound more crisp, and the lower tones have a deeper, fuller nature to them. Fantastic.
On the other hand, Dre headphones only make the base uncomfortably unrealistic, which in turn just drowns everything out.
I’ll keep my old Etymotic ER-6i IEMs. Still can get parts for them, and they give a bit of a bass boost for use with the iPhone or nano without being annoyingly boomy.
That is not the point. The point is that Beats are popular, and a lot of memebase hate everything that is popular.
wow, now that there, thats some faulty reasoning
Are you saying memebase iz hypztur?
Tell you what, I own a pair I got as a present.
Want to know why they’re nailed to a listening station?
BECAUSE IF YOU WALK WHILE WEARING THEM YOU WILL GO DEAF FROM THE REVERBERATIONS
I have heard them, and yes, they are obviously more impressive than the ipod earbuds or any walkman cd-player stock headphones. But for the cost of them ,and inferior by comparison of what I own/use, I will be content sticking with some AKGs.
Fathom: 1.8288 meters ( Commonly used in measurements of water depth.) Besides this, my Sony headphones that are over 4 years old out-bump Beats any day.
^ this
1.) best buy’s listening stations suck.
2.) I’ve tried Beats plugged into my own music and for $300, basically all you get is bass, meaning these headphones can only do hip-hop and maybe rap decently. The Sennheiser HD558′s I got for $150 are leagues beyond anything Beats can do. I’d actually rather take random Skullcandy headphones over Beats but they both are eck
…. I couldn’t in good conscious let anyone walk out of the store with Beats without giving them a better recommendation. Monster Turbine audiophiles are roughly about the same price, offer better quality, better bass & are far more durable than Beats. And if you’re not a Monster Cable fan, go with Klipsch, Etymotic or Westone earbuds/headphones. Anything celebrity branded in the electronic market is a clear warning sign to stay away from.
Beats are made by Monster Cable, you know?
so? they are still overpriced cause of the “dr dre” the money that wasn’t spent getting the sponsor was spent on better technology. durr
Audio Technica ATH-M50 FTW
I do. Now, GTFO >>>
This post was made by someone who is mocking the users of beats audio headphones. I do know a lot about audio quality. And I do own a pair, are they the best, no, but they are rather good, and on par with the bose headphones I replaced them with. The beats are well built headphones, its their software thats overrated.
“on par with the bose headphones I replaced them with.”
I lol’d
>on par with bose
2/10
You know a lot about audio quality and you use Beats and Bose? You contradict yourself, sir.
Yes,yes i have.
I thought pretty good, maybe a bit bloated on bass.but NO were near 200-300 euro good. Also having celebrity headphones is more important than having headphones to ppl nowadays, even if it compromises quality.
Yes, I’ve listened. In fact I’ve listened to a bunch of headphones over my 20+ year audio engineering career. They sound pretty good, no question, and if you like them, buy them. But make no mistake, you are buying the Coach purse of headphones–you are paying more for the label than the quality. For the price you pay Dre, you can get *significantly* better sound quality with other brands…and BTW, they don’t sell those brands at Big Box Store #7…
This^
actually bought for 15euro a pair of sony in-ears 1 month ago who sound just as good as those beat in-ears but are just 10% of the price and look less r3tarded..
Had beats, sold em, for the price they are appalling! Don’r get me wrong they are a good set of headphones but you’d be much better spending your money on Klipsch, shure or bose. Anyone who spends that much on beats is an idiot.
For the price of the $300 ons, you could buy 3 pairs of actual professional headphones. People who have Beats only think they’re good because they really are the first mass marketed pair of headphones. So they’re gonna be the first they listen to, automatically making their baseline for quality “Beats”
Audiophiles, I call upon ye, come forth from the darkness and enlighten us.
Start by explaining how 50 dollars of Monster wire is better than regular audio cable would you? I’ll start making the next Willy Wonka for that one.
What’s this meme called?
Condescending Wonka, I think
You must be new here
^ that’s actually the name of it. He’s not just makin’ fun of you.
Incredibly overpriced headphones.
In all honesty I never quite got the idea why people would buy headphones designed by a rapper that never released any album for himself since the arrival of the 21st century.
…and yet is widely regarded as one of the best producers in the industry right now.
Hahahahaha
I have Beats. They sound great but they’re starting to break.
… you just don’t get it do you?
That’s why i bought V-Moda headphones. This sh..it is indestructible
Inner head strap?
beats by dre are not the best headphones, and they’re definitely a waste of money. the people that use them are people that really dont know much about studio onitor headphones, but rather people that want to fit in and say they have a pair. krk kns 8400 are a much better pair of headphones, and only cost $99, less than half the price of the dre solos. if youre going to spend $300 on a pair of headphones, you can do MUCH better than beats by dre. not hatin on them, just stating facts
As a Beats owner myself. I think the quality is just as good as any other headphones out there. They don’t have the same noise canceling ability with others in that price range but I dont care. I also bought them for the brand and the look of the headphones. I admit I took the brand into mind when buying.
that’s what you pay for, so if that’s what you’re looking for then that’s fine.
I have 100 boss headphones… The 100 dollars is for quality.
The 250+ cost of Dr. Dre headphones are just because they have Dr. Dre in the title. Its the same as buying certain brands of clothing. You can get the same quality and similar artwork for a third of the price. You’re just paying for the brand.
how can I like this 1,000,000 times? As a person who sells them, I can tell you that you are going to need to buy 2 pairs upfront because they are going to break. Also, Monster is ending their partnership with Dre because it’s hurting their brand image.
Ah, that makes sense, being associated with a succesful hip-hop producer is hurting their brand image as infamous swindlers.
Idk why anyone ever bought anything that was made by Monster. Incredibly over-priced cables and then they pair up with Dr. Dre to somehow make the most incredibly over-priced headphones. Probably should have bought stock in Monster when some salesman at Bestbuy tried to convince me that I needed Monster cables years ago.
They’re pretty great for analog stuff. I never understood the “High-end” digital cables… It’s digital for Christ’s sake.
That being said, using Monster cables for your git-box makes a world of difference.
I buy monster cables because if they break, you can just bring them into wherever you bought them from, let’s say guitar center, and tell them to give you another one. Right there. Right then.
I’ve done it too.
50 dollars for 30 feet. It costs more than buying run-of-the-mill cable that will cost 25 bucks for 30 feet, sure, but I look at the amount of use/time of corruption of cable.
If you are in a band and you travel and are constantly using the guitar cables, they are going to break, and they will do it rather quickly. So instead of buying 2 cables at 25 bucks I’ll just buy one at 50 that has a unlimited lifetime warranty and not have to worry about buying another one ever again.
If, of course, you are just using, let’s say, xlr’s and hooking up speakers and aren’t moving the cables around a lot, sure, go for the average cable, but even then, you might as well put some money into it and purchase a nice cable like Mogami, they too have a lifetime warranty.
Sennheiser for life
f**k this garbage
And f**k Bose too
beats are for retards . If you want to experience sound then get some bose because they don’t have to sell their stuff by makin them look look or something.
Bose is just as bad as the Beats. You’re paying for brand over quality either way. Try an actual hifi audio brand like Grado, Sennheiser, AKG, or Audio Technica. Just to name a few. Bose and Monster are first and foremost producers of advertisements and marketing, and that’s what you pay for.
I have Sennheiser HD280s, Bose Earbuds, and regular iPod headphones, they all sound great, but are good for different things. iPod ones are great for biking and working out (they stay in your ears and don’t blast high volume) … I prefer to hear traffic around me than be blasted with deafening bass. The Bose headphones are great for school … libraries, etc. and the Sennheisers are great for being home.
Every pair of Beats I’ve ever seen look poorly designed, uncomfortable, and when I listened it just sounded like the bass was unbalanced, like having a 1000 W subwoofer paired with tiny laptop speakers.
the solo HD’s are over priced buy around €60…
the studios ain’t too far off the mark and the pro’s are at about the right money
believe it or not
.
.
but….
these cans only “shine” with the right music,
why not spend €100 on Marshal “Majors”
savage cans for the money and you can potter around knowing you don’t own
a set of “Beats by Dre”
or…. just buy Monster headphones (turbine pros for example)
if you want the very same cans much cheaper and without that
pretentious “B”(eacon) on your ears…..
I had two skulls candy’s headphones, they broke twices at the same place, now i have a backpack with speakers and everybody can know im hot cuz im listening to good beats very loud in the metro.
wow, consider yourself really lucky that no one pushed you into railways YET. do something for your health and buy a headphones.
Lol you’ve gotta try real hard to break skullcandies, I’ve had two pairs of buds and they’re still 100%
Considering picking up those ones with the nice ear pillows when my current headphones wear out.
Sennheiser HD800 made in Deutschland and the best headphones ever…
Actually, there are somethat sound as good, or better. Audeze LCD-2, Grado RS1, Unique Melody Miracle custom earphones (with six mini-speakers per ear), etc. If you really want to know about audio, go to head-fi.org
Obviously you’ve never listened to AKG headphones at all.
People still use headphones…? Want to look like you really know quality? Nothing beats the sound of strapping a pair of Mackie monitors to your head.
Mackies are fantastic. Among the best quality-to-price ratios out there. I never use headphones inside the house anymore because of my Mackie speaker set-up.
I wouldn’t actually recommend strapping them to your head, in case anyone didn’t understand B. Gold’s sarcasm.
Oh you dont know anything about personal preference?
You must troll on the internet alot
PLEASE TELL ME WHAT IS THE NAME OF THAT MEME!!!!!
My Klipsch S4i> any pair of Beats
I don’t know about you guys but I’ll stick with my 10$ headphones trololo.
Beats do appear to be flimsy, however, the sound itself is very good. The bad thing about good headphones is it enhances how bad the quality of the song is you’re listening to. (Example: An MP3 at 124kps will sound worse on a good pair of headphones compared to a mediocre set) So if you listen to some downloaded songs at a low bit rate quality, the good headphones will just enhance how bad the quality of the song is.
Honestly though, the price tag on them is too high. (Also, Bose is junk). One of the best sounding headphones I’ve owned are the Razer Orcas and those go for about $55 USD
I got the Dr. Dre beats for free with a company phone we sent out. I have the headphones and enjoy them immensely compared to the pos ones I had before. I have had logitechs and bose. Both of those were junk. Beats do sound very good, just not as good as some others out there. Mine were free so I have no complaints.
The clearest headphone sound I’ve ever experienced is:
CD playing through PS2
Magnavox CRT TV
Sony $20 studio headphones.
No seriously, it was amazing.
$80 sony mdr xb500′s, sounded as good as beats to me, so I bought them, and I’m happy with them. but I’m half deaf anyway because I have a couple grand in my car stereo and listen to it too loud.
I’ll stick with my $30 Sony’s, thank you.
they may be over priced but as an owner of solos i absolutely love them and i tested the water on senns (if thats how you would abbreviate that), as well as skullcandy, bose, and sony. and they are very durable i had them on my neck during a car crash yesterday the car barrel rolled twice and they are fine still! true story. they also sound fairly good and have good style all together not worth the bashing they are getting. but you’re all entitled to your opinions.
words cannot say how much i love this post
Willy Wonka, when have you ever been wrong?
I like my bose oe2′s they sound great
I am glad to say I purchased Monster Turbines instead of dre beats. I would never have known the importance of sound quality in music. If I had bought beats, I would have had headphones with muddy and unbalanced sound.
Wow, last week I found out all memebase posters have aspergers and now I find out they are all audio engineers.
Heh heh. You said “ass”.
Beats are alright but they cost to much. I should have gotten turtle beach because they fit better and cut out all noise. Every time I’ve used my friends turtle beach i’m like “Why did i spend $500 on these”.
beach
I bought Beats just for the brand and to support Dr.Dre.
you sir are what’s wrong with the world
The only people qualified to comment on this are people who record Live sound, mix live sound and real, true audiophiles. I fall into all three categories. Let’s be real, I can get much better audio quality for less money than a pair of beats.
Actually, a studio engineer/mixer is probably more qualified than you. Not that anyone cares because everyone here seems to be a boring self proclaimed audiophile who is enjoying telling other people that their taste isn’t as fine.
I have the Beats by Dr Dre Pro headphones, I got them for £280 (20% off). They do have excellent sound quality and are extremely sturdy and well built, however, they make your ears extremely warm and slightly sweaty after using them for no less than 10 minutes, definitely not worth the price tag. When you use them for first time you literally puke rainbows, after a few weeks you get used to them and I have no recollection of the first time I used them now. The bottom line is just buy some sennheiser headphones, they’re cheaper and far more satisfying.
agreed
i own a piar of denon ahd2000′s and even the best beats cant touch them at double the price
Sennheiser IEMs FTW.
Amazon sells them at a big discount.
Beats are the headphone equivalent of 1000$ HDMI cables. Real musicians and producers use either better headphones at half the price, or infinitely better headphones at the same price.
I doubt even Dre uses Beats outside of promotional pictures.
dre = crappy over-hyped rapper/producer
beats = crappy over-priced headphones
i own nixon troopers and the quality specs are almost identical
My $40 iFrogz sound just as good, if not better, than my friends beats
I have an older pair of Shure that are similar to the SE215′s and a couple of Sony MDR-7506 Studio Monitor headphones. The Shure headphones are powered directly from the device. The Sony headphones are powered by a Behringer Powerplay Pro-XL HA4700 headphone amplifier.
I would never waste money on cheap crap.
THIS RED IS A LITTLE MORE RED THAN THIS RED YOU KNOW BECAUSE I KNOW MY RED AND THIS IS A LITTLE BIT REDDER.
What is this meme called ?!?
>2012
>suddenly everyone is audiophile
*constanza face
Ultimate Ears reshelled TF10′s w/ Null Audio Lune cable.
Unless you’re wearing full customs, or proper, full on cans, .
Just because you own Sennheisers, Beyers, AKGs, Grados, and other super high clarity headphones doesn’t make you a better person, you just have different hearing, so why bother telling people Beats suck if they can’t hear a difference, its pointless. With that being said i own a pair of Beats Mixrs and Sennheiser 558s so no im not biased either way, they’re just different.
