  2. vidjit says:

    I came here expecting a flame war… I see silence…

  3. IamBOXBOY says:

    I’m an art student….and I lol’d

  4. Telamo says:

I don’t know if a Film major would count, but if so I have to disagree. I make a substantial amount of cash while working with/writing for an independent film company. If “Art” were to be limited to painting and the like, I would have to agree.

  5. kordan55 says:

what about philosophy majors? communications? theater? english?

  6. Kitty says:

In reality most majors are going to have a hard time getting a job when they graduate.

  7. Roz says:

    This is so good.

  8. Alexander says:

So my plans. Have. Changed. First. I will. Kick you. 2 I will kiss u. Then. Duck fast. Chase you. ….

    !

  9. pwnFTW says:

I don’t always post memes about “arts” students, but when I do, I clearly show that I myself am not an “Englishs” student.

    • 'Nuther Guest says:

      I lol’d

    • Will says:

the English language is overly complicated and illogical. once you have a system that uses rules not exceptions then i will hear your complaint.

      • Rageman says:

English language……..overly complicated………..Bwahahahhahahaaaaa. If it is so complicated, then why most of people are able to use it decently just because they played a lot of FPS?

        • hoho says:

          I would argue about “decently”.
Being able to type “omg noob f*ck you d*ck *ss b*tch” doesn’t mean you can “use it decently” :P

  10. Alexander says:

    Bye now. !!!

  11. 'Nuther Guest says:

…because the gentleman at my register just ordered them and I’m not sure which is the “large” and which is the “small.”

  12. Milan says:

I must live in opposite land, given that the people I know who went on to study for art degrees now work as supervising editors, publishers, professional print journalists, marketers, teachers, administrators in various film and television companies or (in one particularly successful case) went on to own their own graphic design studio. In fact a friend of the family has four sons, all of whom went on to study some art related course, all of whom have fairly lucrative jobs in various fields such as teaching linguistics abroad, designing kitchens, copy writing and digital animation.

In fact their success rate is directly proportional to the same group of peers who went on to study engineering, psychology or any other professional field of education after high school. Could it be that success in any given field isn’t determined by the pursuit itself, but by the ambition and aptitude of the pursuer and what they opt to do with it?

I do agree though that there seems to be a genuine dissonance between students applying for an education and not being able to find work in the related field, many of whom are convinced that a major is a free meal ticket to a career.

  13. mystikmanky says:

    *art

I don’t always correct spelling and grammatical errors, but when I do, it’s as an art student who prays that you have the strictest English teacher on campus.

  14. Kotone says:

Agreed. I’m majoring in video game design, in which 85% of my peers will get a job immediately following their graduation, while 14% of the rest of us are expected to get a stable job within 3 months of graduation. It pays very well and is fun.

  15. abadoo411 says:

Actually, according to most recent studies, clinical psychology is the major with the highest employment rate at 19%, with miscellaneous art degrees being at 16%. Of the top 10 degrees with the highest unemployment, three or four of them are psychology related. just sayin.

If you think about it, considering that a lot of artist are freelance, or have loose terms of unemployment, 16% isn’t all that bad (i mean, its not great, but it could be a lot worse). interestingly enough, the unemployment rate for studio arts, the stereotype of art related fields, has 8% unemployment. so make fun of us all you want, but the statistics don’t support the opinion that none of us are going to get jobs in our field.

  16. Liran says:

Good thing that 90% of the students who graduate from the college I’m going to get a job in their intended field within 6 months of graduation. It’s an art college, by the way. ;)

  17. Jimmylou says:

I don’t allways give people the wrong softdrink,

but when I do, it’s because I assume that the taste will be a good contrast to the customers smile and underline his view on the world.^^

  18. Ameil says:

I was an art student. I have a kickass job. I’ve never worked fast food.

    • Emetique Necrotica says:

God forbid do that nasty peasant work, right?

I’m a Journalism student and I work at McDonald’s. Over the past year, I’ve made the Dean’s List.

  19. CiciDoll says:

Sadly I am an art student and must agree -_-

  20. LeMoi says:

This reminds me of a joke I heared.
What does an employed art student say to an unemployed art student?
“Do you want fries with that?”
