  26. bearsforbreakfast says:

actually guys, its a chain, instead of topping off both sides with a spike or cone or what ever, keep the sets of 3 lines going and you get chain. it started back in the 80′s as (you guessed it!) a gang sign.

  27. TLK says:

    Oh god, I remember this.
GET OUT OF MY HEAD MEMEBASE!

I still wanna know where it’s originally from.

  28. jenny says:

ya, i am 38, am i too old, or too young to understand this? gotta love it when someone posts somethng totally obscure and refers to it as if others will know what they are talking about, lol

    • Aanikki says:

Yep. And as some brave individuals express their unfamiliarity with the subject, they get laughed at and picked on but NOBODY seems to be willing or able to explain what the funk this symbol actually means! Please, is there anyone to pull us ashore from the sea of oblivion?

    • Fonz says:

I’m 39 and in elementary school, every kid would draw this on their pee-chee folders

  29. please tellme says:

    wtf is that?

  30. CosplayHoratio says:

I always turned them into monsters.

  31. I remember saying “Ok, that’s cool… I guess?”

  32. Livin' Legend says:

For about a week in elementary school, I made an effort to ask everyone I saw drawing this exactly what it was. The either said, “I don’t know.” or “Stussy!” Asking the obvious question if the answer was the latter, the answer was invariably, “…I don’t know.”

After a week, I no longer gave a damn. Approximately two decades later, I still don’t give a damn. I almost surprise my normally curious self by not even finding it Google-worthy.

  33. zappafrank says:

Why u no explain what this is? Googling “stussy” doesn’t yield anything

  34. I just spent 15 minutes Googling this so you don’t have to. It’s usually called a “super s” or a “stussy s”. It is a symbol used in doodles and graffiti that has been circulating among children and adolescents for decades. Often incorrectly assumed to be associated with the Stussy clothing line, but while similar designs may have appeared on Stussy t-shirts (google “stussy superco”), there are reports of it predating the Stussy company by at least a decade or two.

No one seems to really knows where it originated from.

  35. Tatersack99 says:

I always thought it was stupid.

  36. No, because I had tons of better things to do in my childhood, like do something that’s actually fun, you know. It looks like an uninteresting logo anyway, so it might not have caught my attention during childhood anyway.

    • TomatoLauncher says:

This takes about two seconds to draw. You must have had the oddest childhood if you never had time to doodle.

  37. oh yeeeah says:

    I invented it

  38. Double_e_p says:

I teach middle school and kids still doodle this, so it’s not that obscure Jenny. I have no idea what it means, if it even means anything. It’s not a logo. I think it’s more like an optical illusion.

  39. S says:

In middle school this “S” would have gotten in the way of me drawing dragons. The kids that drew the “S” all day always would go “WHOA MAN, DATS A COOL DRAGON! ARE YOU GUNNA LIEK DRAW ANOUTHER?!” Then I would draw another dragon, listen them talk about how its good (it really was only okay) for ten minutes. Then I would chase them off when they took my paper to show me what they could do (which was draw the S.) -___-

    • I kinda know how that waz, cept this one more popular kid who drew dragons, but not as good as me, but just a little better than Napoleon Dynamite draws Ligurs, but he always had everyone saying “WHOA MAN, DATS A COOL DRAGON! ARE YOU GUNNA LIEK DRAW ANOUTHER?!”, an I was all liek “LOOKIY HERE AT DIS DRAGON THAT I DID BETTER THAN HIS!” an everyone was all like “WE HATE YOU AND INVALIDATE YOUR SUPERIOR DRAGON DRAWERING SKILLZ NOW GO KILL YOURSELF IN THE BOYS ROOM!” and I waz liek “No. I’m gonna go eat a sammich in the lunchroom!”

  43. Sword Fish says:

    No…
    Wtf even is that?

  44. Marker says:

  53. BANANA says:

Is it weird that I liked science, then?

  54. ohyea_iwent_there says:

It was just a shape that looked cool and everyone was proud to make almost perfectly. Most kids couldn’t draw well(I still can’t) so someone showed someone else that drawing a cool shape was as simple as 1-2-3.

Pretty much a meme before the internet.

  55. fernozzle says:

    I hhhhated it!
Come on, kids, can’t you draw any other letters!?

  56. Halorym says:

I drew that in third grade art… turns out it was a local gang sign, I was sent to the office. Thus began my slow loss of faith in humanity

  57. right on says:

    Resembles the Suzuki sign

  58. Vylaina says:

I’m 18, and this old thing was still very popular at the primary schools of Australia the last time I checked. XD I think we may be ever-so-slightly behind.

  59. Some guy says:

Oh, the childhood memories…I never drew this, but knew some guys who did. In fact, I think it’s still being drawn by kids. Never understood what it meant until today though.

  60. the_hosch says:

Am i the only one who reminds this of carrera slot car race tracks?

  61. Timmy the Turtle says:

Random troll is Random: Who remembers: I.O.U. Jeans and Mossimo?

  62. Rox says:

Wow… Yes, I do remember that… Even though I live in northern Sweden. I remember classmates asking me how I did it! I don’t know who I learned it from, but I perfected it quickly, and apparently that impressed a few other kids so they had me teach them how to draw it. We used to cap the ends of the S off with horizontal lines rather than diagonal, though. I’ve never seen it with diagonal ends until today. Looks more like an 8 that way, I think…

That’s really bizarre… I would never have guessed it was a worldwide thing!

  63. MATHEMATICAL says:

never saw that in my childhood, i was too concentrated on digimon.

  64. Doondeka says:

NO ONE EVEN KNEW WHAT IT MEANT!

  65. French dude says:

I’m french, I’m 25 and I did that all the time back when I was ten, this is international.

  66. -Rage_Quit- says:

I always drew a retarded one lol.

  67. not too young! says:

i don’t know about “stussy” or wtf that is. we called it “super s”

  68. Amber says:

Are you trying to tell me that it isn’t the coolest thing? (ノಠ益ಠ)ノ彡┻━┻

  69. Godspot says:

    1. This isn’t a meme, whys it on memebase?
    2. It isn’t TWO PAIRS of 3 parallel lines, it’s one pair…two pairs would mean there’s four sets of 3 parallel lines
