  1. O_o says:

    …First?

  2. Tha Dood ლ(ಠ益ಠლ) says:

So the Euros took the worst idea America has came up with in the last century, and managed to make it worse.

    Well done?

    • Kyde says:

I lost my faith in the european people doing better than the US.

      • Zdenko says:

actually if you read it, you’d know it’s GLOBAL not european

        • woelff says:

Yep. In fact, it was made by the Japan and US. EU has given support for it to be signed 2013-ish.

        • shigeto says:

          owned.

        • Element says:

Yup, it’s just that the UK just signed it along with like 21 other EU countries. But it’s a global thing. And that traitor in the Whitehouse signed it without blinking… without a word to congress or the courts. He must have laughed so hard when SOPA got shot down…

          • floopsywoopsy says:

i live in the EU and i can say that the government thinks the usa is doing it better and they are planning to do the same here, it all started with the open borders,,,, too shame

  4. o.o SOPA WAS A DISTRACITON! OMG

  5. thelonewings says:

    i will eat them

  6. trollnonymous says:

What if these acts are just proposed by the Illuminati to measure how effectively everyone who uses the internet will be able to collaborate in a conspiracy to take over the world?

    • Aelix says:

      Keanu GTFO.

    • AKobold says:

      - Congress declare pizza a vegetable
      - the internetz expose the ridicule.
      - revenge: SOPA/PIPA
      - internetz blackout
      - revenge: ACTA
      - next move anyone….

      • thefish says:

        black out ALL the things

        • necoo says:

i actually agree with this statement we should potition that almost everything on the internet be black out for one day… like all the search engines (google, bing, ect), wikipedia, youtube and all other video sites, big time mmos like world of warcraft and rift ect. and just take away everything for just one day and see how the world reacts

          • Prince M. Dagon says:

Not happening… companies like M’Soft operate Bing and Blizz-Activ run WoW. These companies only stand to benefit from the likes of ACTA and SOPA/PIPA. I’ll give el Goog the benefit of the doubt for now.

But you may get your wish in another form… the sun is supposed to increase it’s activity over the course of the next year and might send a rather large CME our way. Depending on the magnitude, it may knock out comm sats and power for days!

            • waggle237 says:

              no…no it wouldnt

            • SomeGuy says:

Any website, regardless of who controls it, can be brought down. Of course, it’s illegal and in the most reasonable ways you’d have to use the internet to do it.

A better protest would be to organize a single day when no one goes to work, but it would have to be very widespread and most people probably wouldn’t go for it. If an organized effort were made, though, the collective governments of the world would drop this plan immediately.

            • Pantsbucket says:

No company would benefit from ACTA. Posters in public areas will be an offense, free advertising will be illegal, essentially. The only form of spreading something copyrighted would be word of mouth, and paid advertisements. Word of mouth being IRL only. Simply mentioning copyrighted material on a chatroom will get your ass arrested.

              • Anti-ACTA Guy says:

“Should we lie on the ground and put bags over our heads?”
                “Yeah, if you like.”
                “Will it help?”
                “No, not really.”

If you can get large numbers of the people of major countries of the world to lie on the ground with bags over their heads in protest, and sign a petition afterwards, we as the collective could stop this! It would have to be done on a Monday and last all day so that no one goes to work thus helping to emphasize the amount of economical damage that ACTA would cause to the world. If possible we may have to do something extremely drastic….like “unplug” the Internet on that same Monday to show how important a free, uncensored Internet is to modern society. Feel free to copy and paste this anywhere you like, be it Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Reddit, or even elsewhere on Memebase; anywhere you know that it will be read; post, comment, update, tweet, or Digg this.

        • Barto says:

      • Stretch says:

        2ND AMMENDMENT TIME

      • SlytheTroll says:

call ALL the activists. we can take a brake from Occupy Gay Pride, ect. piss off the activists and nerds and feel our wrath ACTA

      • PorkFork says:

Internetz expose ridicule but not the obvious corruption behind those who voted on this dumb idea for cheaper “healthy lunches”, why?

    • George says:

What if blacking out the internet and all private consumerism is secretly a plan to lower world obesity? Here is their plan:

      1. Black out the internet so obese people don’t sit around as much. Then SOPA, PIPA and ACTA will apply to television.
      2. ????
      3. Profit.

  7. Jaiden says:

Sopa was just the pawn in the governmets sick game of chess. And it seems like they brought their queen out. We are all screwed.

  8. Mint says:

    ACTA is lame.

It’s already been signed in the UK. Hopefully it won’t reach here, considering our Prime Minister has a brain smaller than her eye ball.

    • YUmad? says:

      Helle Thorning/Angela Merkel?

    • gingerninjasam says:

“A signing ceremony was held on 1 October 2011 in Tokyo, with the United States, Australia, Canada, Japan, Morocco, New Zealand, Singapore, and South Korea signing the treaty”
      But…
“Article 39 of ACTA states countries can sign the treaty until 31 March 2013. European Parliament reportedly has the final decision over whether the treaty is dismissed or enacted”

      • Rageman says:

This time we are lucky that our european politicians are bunch of populist asshats, they are going to swipe this off the table, if we put a little pressure on it. Look at german Merkel, she f%cked up atomic power engineering of the whole Europe for years to come, just to get re-elected.

        • Lakey says:

It’s the EU that will be signing it. They’re unelected. Why would they care if we protest? It’s not like we can vote them out.

          • Herpy-DerpKenobi says:

Of course we can. The EU parliament consists of – directly by the people – elected representatives from their respective countries. That’s why there are Europa-Elections… At least in Germany.

            • lolapalooza says:

UK has Europe elections as well, but because people didn’t think it was important the really racist minority parties managed to get in to EU Parliament, such as the BNP even though they’d never get in to UK Parliament .
              But yeah, ACTA sucks…

          • mrep says:

Unelected? Pretty sure I voted in 2009.

        • Herpy-DerpKenobi says:

Angela Merkel is just modernising her party. After what happened in Fukushima, it’s good that she openly corrected her mistake (declaring the safety of nuclear power – with an effing degree in physics) and worked on alternative energy sources.

          • Rageman says:

I wanted to write my opinion about this problem and about populism, but then I noticed you mentioned alternative energy sources, I would waste my time.

        • --blubb-- says:

im ready to pressurize politics… just someone fu**ing tell me where and how i can do that oO

          • gwrczts says:

Call a representative or send an email. If you live in a country without democracy, you can’t, but then you’re screwed anyway.

      • Bree says:

i dont think ive ever loathed our aussie parliament more then at this moment… this honestly will not get her any votes

  9. six says:

Considering online piracy has been going on since, well, my birth, I have to wonder why only now it has suddenly spawned into such a big deal.

    • Mint says:

It’s just like with “Land Down Under”. It had a sample of “Kookaburra in the Old Gum Tree” and they noticed only two years ago.

      • Kassie says:

Hah! Yes! That was ridiculous. And if your previous comment was directed at Julia Gillard, then I agree. Except Tony Abbott still isn’t great.

        • ragnaught says:

Pants on Head Retarded is closer to Abbott’s technology understanding… so getting him to talk about copyright online is like asking a normal person to explain quantum physics… it doesn’t work.

    • ilikesoil says:

Because every time you download an illegal video, multibillionaires lose tens of dollars!

    • K. says:

@ six – “Considering online piracy has been going on since, well, my birth, I have to wonder why only now it has suddenly spawned into such a big deal.”

      1. Wikileaks
      2. Social media organised mass movements.

      These are the real targets.

  10. Manclad says:

Im feeling some sort of Assasins Creed theme type conspiracy here, where one organization has its finger in every pie and secretly controls something in some small way…

  11. It really is yarrrrrr says:

I love how the first point clearly dispels the title that the post used. Read. Then post. But yea, down with ACTA

  12. lah30303 says:

    Mother of god…

  13. Boaty says:

why is everyone suddenly trying to censor the internet. FFS it doesn’t belong to any government, so they shouldn’t be allowed to try to control it

    • meh says:

No thats true, but it did and they want it back!

    • ragnaught says:

Long of the short of it… Arab uprisings… suddenly the western world’s governments and big corporate power see that it can be used for revolts and to organise whilst potentially remaining anomymous… this is a threat to them and they are trying to control it, thus be able to maintain their control.

  14. TrollAnsikte says:

    OMFG?! WHY EUROPE, WHYYYYYYYY
I don’t wanna live on this continent anymore.

  15. wightsnow says:

In case some of you haven’t looked at the wikipedia article for it, the United States has already signed the agreement. We need to coordinate against this.

  16. Oh my God, what the f***, barbecue! says:

Is this the same thing as that stuff a few years ago with the three strikes block internet?

  17. Aelix says:

    Africa, here I come!

  18. blub says:

why we dont buy our own country and move all the servers over there, so nobody can control them.. anonymous needs a real state

  19. thedragon133 says:

Too late. It is already processed by a committee of non-elected people who can do pretty much all they want without consequences.

    • Anon. says:

Believe me, there are idiots (much like myself) who without Internet would commit killings out of boredom (much like myself).

  20. RockerKidd says:

Looks like Mars is going to be the only safe spot left!

  21. mike says:

Thank Anonymous. This is partially to stop people like you.

  22. CobusVonDrecht says:

So where are all the pretentious Eurotrash now?

Will they give even a fraction of criticism to ACTA as they have SOPA/PIPA? Will this start an anti-European propaganda campaign on every social website on the internet?

    Of course not.

    • meh says:

      Butthurt?

    • Starlancer says:

No. If it was concieved in Europe then it must be good, no matter what the original post claims. Plus I’ve never heard of this and our media certainly would have mentioned it…

      • bordel says:

the whole plan of ACTA was to be concealed to the public as much as possible. to hell that you would have seen this in many media.

    • UK Dude says:

ACTA is a joint US/Japan proposed treaty, with which the EU became involved later. It’s not a European treaty. Both the US and Canada have already signed ACTA, so – bad news for you – it really doesn’t matter how you feel about SOPA/PIPA – you’ve already signed an international treaty to the same effect.

tl;dr – US and Japan started ACTA. Your country is STILL responsible for breaking the internet. Democracy is a myth.

      Sincerly,

The pretentious Eurotrash of which you speak.

      Butthurt? You should be.

      • Mr. Gnome-tastic says:

I sometimes wonder why I should be proud to be American. This crap with SOPA/PIPA and ACTA doesn’t help that.

        • UK Dude says:

For the record, ACTA is expected to be signed by the EU tomorrow, before the European Parliament has a chance to vote on it. It hasn’t even been through British Parliament, because the EU has the power to go over our heads. So I’m not exactly thrilled with the state of my democracy either.

      • CobusVonDrecht says:

“Your country is STILL responsible for breaking the internet. Democracy is a myth.”

We’re also responsible for creating the internet so maybe you shouldn’t complain you freeloading twit.

        • Joebloggs says:

Funny, I thought there were a vast number of groups and organisations involved with its precursors and whatnot. CERN often being accredited with its creation.

        • UK Dude says:

          http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tim_Berners-Lee

The US is responsible for creating ARPANET – a packed switching network that came to be one of the building blocks of the modern internet. The World Wide Web was invented by a British man called Tim Berners-Lee.

So suck it and take your delusions of grandeur somewhere else. Oh, and think of your rightful Queen every time you type WWW into your address bar *trollface* >:-)

        • UK Dude says:

Okay…. The mods didn’t like my original message, so I’ll appease the censors ;)

The US was responsible for ARPANET – a packet switching network that became one the the building blocks of the modern internet.

The World Wide Web was invented by a British man called Tim Berners-Lee.

Soooo… You’re wrong. You can claim credit for the invention of the modern internet if you like, but it’s a delusion and it makes you look silly. In reality, the internet as we know it has had input from all over the world. Claiming that the internet is an American invention is just, in all honestly, a ridiculous thing to say.

    • Joe says:

Someone on the internet that makes sense??? WHAT IS THIS?!?

  23. Anonymous says:

Stopping piracy = Censoring the internet

    yup

    • Common.Sense.FTW says:

Actually, yes. If you give somebody the authority to look for piracy and shut it down without due process, they can look for and shut down ANYTHING they want to.

Are you so naiive to assume that all these people are working in your best interest?

    • Rageman says:

The creator of the SOPA stole copyright protected images THREE times in a row for his website. Now tell me how would you fare?

  24. OrbD says:

    ———-La li lu le lo————

    Just saiyan

  25. thrawn says:

I’m guessing this isn’t nearly as bad as SOPA/PIPA or the media would have been harping on this long ago too. keep in mind that this first came to light in 2008. I haven’t seen the full text of the treaty yet but it appears much better than SOPA simply by the fact that a trial is required to take enforcement action

  26. readme says:

Dear Norway, prepare for thousands of new immigrants. Love, Europe.

    • Nievbi says:

No wonder Norway has one of the highest happiness ratings in the world.

      Quickly! To Norway!

Wait, has Canada got in on this? Ooohhh, please don’t, Canada! I’d rather go live there!

  27. Eklipsewolf says:

Title – ACTA: SOPA, European Style

First line – ACTA isn’t the “European” SOPA.

  28. Mugen says:

Poland is already fighting. But we are going to lose, unfortunately. ) :

    • JSo says:

In Poland people are demonstrating in the streets to protest ACTA. As always, we’re the first to fight for freedom!

      • phades says:

        Despite the fact that the rest of us are taken equally by surprise and most likely much longer to react to it. ><;

  29. Foxycoxy says:

So are we doing scumbag Europe now?

  30. Survivor says:

    Good and solid response? **** YOU, YOU MOTHER****ING ****S, GO **** A **** YOU **** **** **** **** **** ****…

    How’s that?

  31. shyfreak says:

Why dont we take the government and [the rest of this comment has been blocke by ACTA]

  32. Lolligator says:

Great, so now my continent is going to try and block internet too….
    What’s next, the country China!?

    • DONK says:

because china never even tried to censor or block any content on the interwebs :)

      • phades says:

Nah the rest of the countries are going to just be absorbed into that people’s rebulic due to the lack of funds circulating everywhere else. Corporations will be given special exemption statuses and allowed to operate autonomously similar to hong kong. And thus the new feudal era is born…

  33. ninja9578 says:

I thought ACTA was signed months ago? The wiki page says it was signed in October

  34. Mehmachine says:

… We are going to end up killing our world leaders off aren’t we :( well democracy was good while it lasted….

  35. Tom says:

    WARNING. A Challenger Approaches.

  36. good.news says:

    *Paranoid Keanu*
What if… SOPA was just made to hide ACTA?

  37. sasa says:

yes, sopa was just a decoy, and we were all fooled like hamsters….

  38. Deano says:

This is bad. Real bad. Seriously people, do some research on ACTA. It makes SOPA and PIPA look insignificant in comparison.

  39. sacre bleu says:

    Title doesn’t correspond with .1

  40. Nobody1234 says:

Wow people can’t even be bothered to read the damn thing. 1st ACTA doesn’t equal SOPA, SOPA is more of an execution of ACTA. ACTA alone does nothing, it “only” says that the national countries have to implement new laws to protect copyrighted property.

People really should take the 5 minutes to do a research before they post memes with false information. (Also I’m of course against ACTA, because it makes way for laws like SOPA)

  41. Johnny says:

but…but…without conterfeit items….China is going to lose quite a lot of money, won’t they?

oh…and Wal-Mart Toys departement will run out of business…

  42. Dinny says:

Finally someone telling those American’s what’s going on.

And the title is stupid. Especially because Europe isn’t a damn country.

  43. winningwhat? says:

OMG SOPA!!!!11!!1!! What’s SOPA?! I never heard about it!

  44. JURGEN SCHRIJNDERS (aka Zro1Zro2point2 on xbox360) says:

the whole thing is bullcrap ….. if piracy really cost the movie companys and such that much money … then now after decades of piracy they should all be broke … yet they are still making movies worth hundreds of millions ..
mainly cos the actors have to make millions per movie … and why ?? do they really need it ?or deserve it ?..not imo they dont .. plus any movie i might have piratted in the past ended up in my dvd collection as a store bought origanal copy .. why do i pirate then you ask … to see movies in the comfort of my own home ..
not having to sit in crowded cinema’s in seats that are sticky smelly and to small … if and when ive seen the movie and i decide its worth my money … ill still buy it on dvd .. so even tho i sometimes pirate a movie .. they still earn movie of me in the end …. PLUS INTERNET WAS MADE TO SHARE FILES AND CONNECT PPL WORLD WIDE … HENCE THE NAME WORLD WIDE WEB ….. SO PIPA , SOPA AND ACTA … COME SUCK ON MY HAIRY SALTTY DUTCH BALLS …….IF YOU DONT WANT PPL TO DOWNLOAD MOVIES … MAKE SURE PPL DONT LEAK SCREENERS ONTO THE NET …
OR TRY MAKE CINEMAS MORE PROTECTED AGAINST PPL WITH HAND HELD CAMERAS …. BUT STAY AWAY FROM OUR INTERNET …. now i got pissed of so im of to role a big fat joint .. try and arrest me for that .. you cant cos i life in holland .. tough luck basterds ..

  45. Adorkablicous says:

While it is a international treaty, all applicable measures in ACTA are still decided effective or ineffective by the laws governed in each respective country. So it is said that in the Netherlands, my land of origin; “survailance, prosecution without a fair trial and immidiate termination of internet privileges for consumers who download small impact products (like music)” are all ruled unconstitutional and as such may not and will not be put into effect if the treaty were to be assigned.

Although it is fair to say that the treaty in its current form and with its current rules and regulation reminesces more towards a communistic or even a Nazi style global censorship of speech and rights than an actual proposal to impair copyright infrigment.

  46. Bree says:

no country is safe from this stupidity D:

  47. Als ob says:

I saw an interview with the European Commissioner for Digital Agenda the other day, in which she stated how happy she was about U.S. Congressmen changing their mind about SOPA and PIPA.
She said both those acts would not go with a modern way to handle the Internet and would oppose democratic ideas.

Passing something worse than SOPA at the same time would be quite hypocritical..

  48. derpherp says:

The price for downloading minecraft illegal is about 150000 $

    my life is ruined…

  49. OWB says:

…I thought ACTA was the personal information policy being proposed? The one allowing EU citizens to request sites like Facebook delete their personal information rather than selling it.

I think i might have my legislation confused here…

  50. Barto says:

Start drawing the signs woman, we are going to riot against acta!

  51. Dan says:

SOPA was brought to light and plastered all over the news to hide the NDAA

    http://www.forbes.com/sites/erikkain/2012/01/02/president-obama-signed-the-national-defense-authorization-act-now-what/

Are you naive to think the media is working for your best interests?

  52. CaptainDredlokk says:

    http://www.techdirt.com/articles/20120124/11270917527/what-is-acta-why-is-it-problem.shtml

^^Kinda late to take action, but couldn’t hurt to at least show support against it. We need to go against the TPP (Basically, ACTA on steroids) though, and stop this from getting even way more out of hand.

  53. Astropilot says:

    GEEZ. REVOLUTION ANYONE?

  54. OMIGHTY1 says:

Looks like it’s World War III, only this time, it’s a freaking GLOBAL REVOLUTION.

  55. Rev says:

I definitely trust someone who doesn’t know how “censor” is spelled to accurately read, comprehend, and summarize international political issues for me.

    • Shoganslayer says:

      Perhaps it was a typo…made twice…

    • The Sorrel says:

Because foreign people have to know how every word is spelled correctly in a language they don’t usually speak?

ACTA contradicts everything the EU said before so I thought whoever made this “meme” misunderstood something or was just stupid.
But now I know that I was the one being stupid.

  56. Rev says:

I like how everyone’s suggesting SOPA was a “distraction” as if that’s likelier than just, y’know, international politics being a complicated subject with a lot going on. But nah, there’s no way that could be, right?

    • Utmu says:

Although I find the distraction theory interesting and plausible, I find this to be a bit more realistic. You sir, deserve a cookie.

  57. Derpy says:

I never heard of that :/
Not sure this is real or just a troller

  58. NewPlayer says:

Good God !!! It’s like “I don’t want to live on this planet anymore” has never been so fit a description for the way I feel lately…
Help us Anonymous-wan Kenobi, you’re our only hope !

  59. GTFO ACTA says:

    Educate yourself, fool !!

    http://trade.ec.europa.eu/doclib/docs/2011/may/tradoc_147937.pdf

Section 5 is about teh interwebs.

  60. Shoganslayer says:

Overall, the people as a whole are not in control. Ideals like Democracy are simply a way to appease people so to reduce the chance of an uprising. Many do not desire change, or to go through too much strain, no matter the positive result. Unfortunately, we’re controlled. In my opinion, many of us as citizens of our various countries aren’t likely to willingly stand against these selfish politicians…I’d love to be proven wrong.

  61. dwn says:

    Oh… Goodie.

  62. Evilmunk says:

Why do i feel like we took out a troll when we took down SOPA, but then this beasty of a Balrog pops up….

  63. Lakey says:

I do find it strange that they are so desperate to do this. Back in the days of the Empire, the British exported tea into its New World colonies through the East India Company. The Dutch also did this through the Dutch East India company. Having the Dutch compete for trade displeased the EIC and so Dutch tea was banned. Inevitably the smuggling trade grew and cheap taxless Dutch tea was imported. Now having lost sales AND having to deal with illegal imports, the British did what the British did best; they used their brains. Rather than clamp down on import/exports and find and hang as many smugglers as possible, they reduced taxes on legitimate EIC tea. It seems that people are willing to pay slightly more for a legitimate product than they are for an illegal one as long as it’s not too much more. Thus smugglers started struggling to make money. In the end they grouped together and tipped the next shipment of EIC tea into the harbour.

This was known as the Boston Tea Party. A great moment in American history where they protested the lowering of taxes.

Anyway, the moral of the story is that when other methods have failed, it is more effective to compete with smugglers/pirates on quality and price than it is to eliminate them.

  64. VioletZero says:

It’s hard to imagine it getting worse from here. :(

  65. chaikeon says:

    *sigh*
Here we go again. *grabs pitchfork*

  66. Faderf says:

Stop being such retards. You speak like we are in a crisis or something. Its just a project , it wont pass. You youngsters are so eager to enter “history” that you f*gs will do everything , even support auhoritary groups such as annonymous etc. Grow up ,f*gs .

    • Justin Perry says:

“A signing ceremony was held on 1 October 2011 in Tokyo, with the United States, Australia, Canada, Japan, Morocco, New Zealand, Singapore, and South Korea signing the treaty.”

“European Parliament reportedly has the final decision over whether the treaty is dismissed or enacted.”

“Article 39 of ACTA states countries can sign the treaty until 31 March 2013.”

  67. meowmeow says:

    can anyone contact anonymous?

  68. Navybtch says:

Caution: TL;DR ahead. BLUF: Protest all the movies!!

“If you thought the (SOPA) and the (PIPA) were scary, imagine this: There is an international treaty with the same goals and civil rights infringements as its American cousins, **crafted in secrecy outside any existing trade organization with the help of industry giants such as the Motion Picture Association of America.**” Source: http://www.thedailyaztec.com/2012/01/acta-has-same-dangers-as-pipa-and-sopa/

Basically if this passes, we need to all ban together and protest movies. It’ll be hard, but high prices, and now this, should be incentive enough to not go to the movies…

  69. Bychance says:

maybe its not ACTA but ACTH .. and lack of ACTH will have bad results in health

  70. kitkat7 says:

    A) read up on it before you react.
    B) Obama already signed it, but it is probably an unconstitutional signing.

    http://www.techdirt.com/articles/20120124/11270917527/what-is-acta-why-is-it-problem.shtml

  71. Fuck 'em says:

So, who do we have to shoot to get them to understand that we are not going to put up with this bullsh*t?

  72. Hunter57dor says:

    mother of god…….

well this is it i guess. all the it people and hackers and everyone who loves the internet the way it is are now soldiers against those who would change it.

there is no more white hat vs. black hat anymore. only the informed, and the governmental bodies.

    this is war.

  73. The Master says:

Only one way to save ourselves if this passes… TO MEXICO ME AMIGOS!

  74. volvodude says:

In swedish ACTA means “watch out!” :P

  75. mario says:

They just love naming their bills in spanish, don’t they? First SOPA, now ACTA…

  76. hurp says:

    Norway already got this…

  77. Personally, I’m super fond of the fact that this image says in the third line of text “ACTA isn’t the ‘European’ SOPA”.

Meanwhile, someone titled this ACTA: SOPA, European-style.

Dear mods: reading comprehension, get you some!

  78. Meepmeep says:

I don’t really get what they’re trying to achieve with this. We’re not going to buy more movies if we can’t watch them illegally, we just won’t watch them at all.

  79. FlargBarg says:

Title of this: “ACTA: SOPA, European style”
First line of the actual picture: “ACTA isn’t the European SOPA. It’s global…”
    Fail.

  80. Burtonowa says:

Poland will sign that sh*t tomorrow (today? it’s already 26th in Japan…) thank you very much. There’s nothing we can do to stop it. D:

  81. Hazer says:

Hoping that the anonymous hackers society do something about this.

  82. Ode says:

We should start some internet based country somewhere in Bumble-f@#k, all wear meme masks and pirate ALL the media.

  83. evee says:

THIS SHALL NEVER BE ALLOWED TO PASS OR I WILL UNLEASH MY MOST EVIL ARMIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111

  84. Lies2Behappy says:

SOPA was just an appetizer….. Everything was designed to get at this point… 1. everyone gets internet 2. everyone enjoys the internet 3. they let us know that they can take away from us our freedom even in 21st century

  85. 112 says:

Politicians: It is simple, We kill the Internet.

  86. Cmdr. John Shepard says:

    ACTA non verba.
    …is that infringement?

  87. scottahemi says:

how on earth does it effect healthcare???

  88. Nate says:

    iVIVA LA REVILOTION!

  89. firereaction says:

  90. Wat says:

Really Memebase? Joking about such a serious thing by calling it “SOPA European Style”? Don’t you idiotic mods realize that if ACTA passes, the entire Cheezburger Network will completely fall apart? You guys should put this permenantly on the first page of EVERY site in the Cheezburger Network.

  91. common sense says:

    Human Rights; WHO NEEDS THEM???????

  92. ultrametroidfan says:

Government leaders, why u so stupid?????? POLITICIANS ARE IDIOTS!!! SO SAYS THE REST OF THE EARTH’S POPULATION

  93. adwhitenc says:

according to wikipedia, acta was already signed in October 2012

    • Jitmo says:

      They have time machines also!?!?!?!

    • Justin Perry says:

It was signed by America, but according to the same article, the “European Parliament reportedly has the final decision over whether the treaty is dismissed or enacted.”

Time to make friends with the European Parliament.

  94. Dominique says:

ACTA and SOPA are taking Human Innovation and throwing it back YEARS. Without the internet we are unable to keep certain records or make certain things work that we as humans NEED. Yes, I do understand aiding the health of our youth as we become fatter and unhealthy. But think of something less drastic. Maybe the internet can be ridded of certain things that keep people addicted. Time frames, something! ACTA and SOPA will ruin innovation and many lives of people who WORK through the internet, The more slobs we have, the more people may realize that they dont wanna be a slob like them. Survival of the fittest. People who ruin their lives can go ahead.

  95. Nievbi says:

    I will genuinely protest this.

Usually I’ll sit back and do nothing, but now! I’ll make a goddamn sign, make petitions, anything to f*cking to stop this BS.

It’s only a matter of time before someone gets shot over this.

  96. bob says:

Did the majority of you even read the post? ACTA is worldwide, and it is strongly backed by the US, so stop hating on the Euros and start hating on ACTA.

  97. CaptionObvious says:

Anyone here actually read it? I’m guessing no. Otherwise you’d know it’s not the internet breaking beast you think it is.

  98. spoilersgift says:

It doesn’t really feel like any where is a democracy any more, it’s like they (a collective of countries that have signed) are acting like a monarchy. First it’s the internet, next they’ll be bringing back the old chopping block.

  99. Samuel says:

If you’re against ACTA, you think pirating goods for commercial and private economical gain is legal. You would have known this if you had read the bill. Please do before talking about it. Just like SOPA/PIPA, most information spread about ACTA is false. Don’t have an opinion on something before you know what it is (thinking you know isn’t enough).

  100. AMERICA says:

Simple solution: Go Scott Pilgrim on its ass!

  101. robert says:

Fact: the United States already signed ACTA along with 8 other countries.

  102. Katie says:

Y they so mad tho? ):
