    • benhd1 says:

      *either french *or* italian
It’s how a typical american terribly pronounces buongiorno
It’s actually pronounced BWONJURNO or BOO-ONJURNO

that’s how he pronounces it. It just sounds wrong though…

      • HypsterLinguist says:

… i think you all can’t really figure how akward sounds his italian (I’m referring to the other actor, at 0:12) and maybe even more his way of acting, if you aren’t italian native-speaker. Honestly, this is not a parody, this is a big Hollkywood production, I’m expecting that an actor playing an italian character would do something more than smile and do a lots o gestures, moreover without any connections with what he’s saying … probably because the actor didn’t had a clue of what he was actually saying.

        • flaskis says:

well it was still a pretty good attempt for a actor that is born in austria and is fluent in english, french and german.

          • Hypsterlinguist says:

… I didn’t meant to discuss about his pronunciation ;) , I was focusing on his way of acting … even Tom Cruise for instance had a small part speaking italian (and pretending to be italian) in a mission impossible movie (the 3rd, if I’m not wrong), where he did a lot of gestures, exaggerating a bit, but still was not this awkward.
The problem is that the way of representing italians has a bit of trueness, but is always exaggerated for the big audience. Also, the problem is I’m a bit too susceptible. LoL

Ps: let the nazi-grammar begin, I’m pretty sure there would be a couple of mistakes in my essay above :D
