  1. ZEO says:

    Canada, you so silly

  2. Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu says:

that cop is having so much fun… pepper spraying the protesters

  3. Alex says:

    FLAME WAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • pun-isher says:

could someone please post the link on how this happened? I find it unlikely that some cop peppered some kids sitting down in the face while 20 cameras were on him..

..i could be wrong, i just need sauce

      • pun-isher says:

foget it, found it, got it

      • 06th says:

I can’t be bothered to look, but apparently the police had asked them to move so they could go do something important. There’s a know your meme page on it, so you could try that.

        • The guy who knows says:

The fact is, the police, who were trying to break up an illegal protest (however peaceful) Were attempting to LEAVE the protest, because the Occupiers weren’t going anywhere.

However, as the cops tried to leave, the protesters surrounded them.

The protesters were warned repeatedly that they were going to be pepper sprayed if the police were not allowed to leave (as a way to clear a path with minimal injury), and apparently multiple protesters said “Go ahead, not a problem.”

Finally, pepper spray cop becomes a meme.

          • Belle says:

Really? They surrounded the police? Looks to me like they were sitting on the damn ground with their arms linked.

          • Tina says:

How on earth did you come up with this story? Please go troll somewhere else everyone knows the truth here.

          • Common.Sense.FTW says:

There’s film footage of the cops STEPPING OVER the seated protesters.

How could the cops actually be trapped/surrounded if they were freely STEPPING OVER the protesters multiple times?

Watch the actual footage and quit drinking the faux news koolaid.

          • Your conversational partner... says:

Bahaha. Oh, you’re a troll. Not a single word that you said was true.
            1) The protest wasn’t illegal–they had permission from the Chancellor, which was not officially revoked UNTIL the police showed up.

            2) The police were not trying to leave the protest–if they were, they wouldn’t have showed up in the first place.

            3) The protesters didn’t surround the cops. They were there first.

            4) The protesters were not warned–the lieutenant only told the OTHER OFFICERS that he would spray them.

            5) Minimal injury? So the guy who had his mouth forced open and pepper spray sprayed down his throat suffered “minimal injury”? They used the wrong pepper spray–they used the stuff that is supposed to be used a minimum of fifteen feet away. Oh, by the way, they didn’t do a good job of just using pepper spray to do the only damage–they caused severe nerve damage to one student, who I hope by now has the use of his hands back, but I don’t know.

            6) No protesters said “go ahead”. In fact, that hasn’t been part of ANY story, not from the police, not from the students, not from the news. I’m pretty sure you personally made that up.

          • Bob Cratchett says:

            Aaand… source.

            http://m.democracynow.org/stories/12355

“And at one point, they were—we had encircled them, and they were trying to leave, and they were trying to clear a path. And so, we sat down, linked arms, and said that if they wanted to clear the path, they would have to go through us.”

      • Canadian-eh says:

Have more sauce. It really happened to Protesters- passive non provocative protesters.

    • says:

      *sprays you with a supersoaker*

  4. OICWHATUDIDTHAR says:

    Canada also produced Bieber so….

  5. SonicLover says:

Okay, okay, we get it. That cop pepper-sprayed a bunch of people who didn’t deserve it. Can Memebase drop the whole thing already?!

  6. LOLOL says:

Hey , thats the corean guy from the walking dead. So that means…ITS COMING!

  7. gooback says:

How quickly people forget the Vancouver riots.

  8. Ant says:

    That’s a lot of Asians.

  9. ashyshka says:

    the policeman is so handsome

  10. KEC says:

1st one is at a protest, 2nd one appears to be at a parade or something.

    /discussion.

  11. FriarTuck says:

Those are both US pictures, 1st is with criminals, the second is at a gay pride parade in NY. Just more proof, canada copys everything from MERKA!

  12. Evil Fred says:

I recall the MiqMaq woman who lost her baby when a cop kicked her on a demo. And that episode with the Mounties acting as Agents Provocateurs. Canadia ain’t so different.

  13. Anonymous says:

Implying playing with people is worse than abusing them.

  14. ashyshka says:

    the second of course

  15. GreyStarr says:

Is that Gleen from Walking Dead?

  16. drunkgurlzluvme says:

    canada produces deadmau5..so

  17. Sir says:

    Fat cop vs Fit cop

  18. Jeromibear says:

Seeing the picture Id prefer to go to Canada than to go the the USA. I actually wonder why means people from the USA make so much fun of Canadians as they seem like really normal people to me…

    • phoenix says:

as a canadian Id like to say that we are normal people, but injustices involving law enforcement also happen all the time. Last year in Toronto several people I know were arrested in toronto for peaceful protests. And riots happen all the time. Canada has its darker moments, same thing with the USA

    • Yay4Americuh says:

So now we can’t make fun of Canada? Let’s make fun of Australia!

      • Rabbit says:

With what? They have beer, self-deprecatin humor, a landscape trying to kill them, and a government succeeding at it. What could we say that could possibly offend them?

        Oh, that’s right.

Fosters tastes like it was made in America!

    • ZEO says:

re: the US – it’s all so contrived, none of it feels like real tension. Police powertripping and students looking for conflict. I have a feeling a lot of truly oppressed countries are laughing at us right now, in addition to the more ‘civilized’ countries where the police apparently just stare you down and kindly ask you to move.

      • yakusio says:

naaah, we (germany) always refer to you as the “perfect” democracy…true story.

        • good guy georg says:

nope, that’s just not true. maybe if you read Bildzeitung only

        • ZEO says:

that’s oddly reassuring, although I’ve met many Germans who would disagree (but who really has a perfect democracy, anyway?). I just hope people recognize that we can be incredibly self-critical and do attempt to deal with our problems, just not always at a national level. and we try to have a sense of humor about it.

          • PC-DVD says:

Referring as perfect Democracy cause the President of the USA gets rather straight elected by the People (over those Electoral College, of course), thats all i guess.
Germanys President gets elected over a variety of different Ways, miracle Stuff, you know.
Thats why nobody knows his Name. (you dont have to google it, you already lost the Game!)

            • C13g3 says:

Either way, a head of state being elected does not mean democracy but republic. The USA is not a democracy but a republic. Democracy is more of a political practice than a form of government.

        • Tina says:

          You’re not even German, gtfo

      • Bobby says:

        Which country? Ponyland?

saw it first on 9gag. umad, memebase? ;D

  23. nou says:

    They’re* wish I could edit :/

  24. natalie says:

The difference is one is a gay pride parade, and the other is occupytards protesting.

    • Mandy says:

But our police were even nice to the occupy protesters. They were allowed to stay in a Toronto park for weeks. They were “kicked out” by being handed an eviction notice by the city. Pretty much everyone left peacefully.

I’m not saying Canadian police are perfect (see: G20) – but the occupy protests have gone peacefully so far.

  25. Ecliptica87 says:

    American’s haven’t heard of G20, have they?

  26. FILM STOODINT says:

He HAD to spray them! They were SITTING DOWN! They had their ARMS LOCKED! They didn’t follow ORDERS! He was BORED! He needed to feel like a TOUGH guy! People might have had to WALK AROUND them! He’s a HERO and he deserves a PURPLE HEART!

  27. LingeringLols says:

The Police just want to have fu~n. Oh, the Police just want to have fu~n!

  28. Skieth says:

I misspoke…I first said it was China and then said it was North Korea…It’s Asia, that’s all

  29. Skieth says:

I misspoke…I first said it was China and then said it was North Korea…It’s Asia, that’s all…its Actually South Korea (see flag colors on police officer’s hat)

  30. EvilDave says:

I see. You compare a protest to a parade and call it a fair comparison. Misleading vividness and cherry-picking.

  31. LazarheaD says:

When is the first plane leaving for Canada ?

  32. Reiter says:

…is that kid behind the cop in the blue shirt the one kid from The Walking Dead?

  33. Mercury says:

I love how many people have their iPhones recording this.

  34. Zach says:

I seen a story about WW2, they interviewed a German that was in a Canadian POW camp, the German said one day they tried to escape and expected the Canadians to rush in with guns but instead the Canadians came in with the same weapons the Germans had. When the uprising was done a Canadian went up to him and told him “that was a good fight”

    • TrishtheStalker says:

As a Canadian I can say that our Japanese internment camps in WWII were far worse than the ones in the US, and we weren’t even the ones who got attacked… so Canada isn’t always better.

  35. AlexJ64 says:

Makes me want to move to canada.

  36. carcrash says:

    canada represent

  37. Amanda says:

We had to slow down the water fights once the snow came, as they became icicle fights and someone got hurt! =(

But we had hot chocolate and it was okay.

    Igloos for all!

  38. THAT-PIE says:

    Not sure if dissing Canada,
    or saying we’re better.

  39. derp? says:

    mother of god

  40. El oh El says:

The only reason Canada is better. And their indoor water parks. And hockey.

    • C13g3 says:

And their more stable banking system based on five major banks that can withstand great amounts of economic pressure. And beer.

  41. Neb says:

Moral of the story: OWS protesters ought to move to Canada where the idea originated in the first place.

  42. hurpaaaaa says:

    Vancouver – not pictured.

    Wonder why?

  43. shock says:

This might look harmless, but the Canadian cop is so much curler than the American. Pepper spray hurts, but after you wash it out, you’re fine. The average temperature in Canada is slightly lower than absolute zero. Every one of those protesters froze to death almost instantly.

  44. Fatswimdude says:

Yesterday I saw a pic of an #occupysovietrussia protester pepper spraying some cop

  45. Blue Bamboo says:

    GUYS!

    Canada gave us Jim Carrey.

    Yeah Thats what I thought.

  46. Tseran says:

Forget Jim Carrey. He’s good but….

    John Candy
    Michel J. Fox
    Leslie Nielson
    Steve Martin
    Rick Moranis
    Tommy Chung

There we go. THIS is why we re more interested in having fun then pepper spraying folks. We have all the laughs, and like to share them!

  47. Alexkazam says:

as awesome as this seems.. it doesnt happen here

  48. says:

    CANADA. Now Asian.

  49. Britt says:

I wish this was true :( in Halifax, Nova Scotia 14 people were arrested for violating a by law, several were beaten, an 18 year old girl was hit so hard by a cop an ambulance had to be called because she couldn’t breathe. All those arrested were held for 12 hours for violation of a by laws and several were forced to sign papers stating they were not allowed in any Halifax parks again. This was all done on our Remembrance Day and on one of the stormiest days of the year. It was disgusting. Even our politicians were appalled by the extreme force and the eviction notice signed by the mayor.

  50. Kingfofo says:

    Canada: The better America!

  51. Lisa says:

Yea, but it’s too cold to do that most of the time in Canada. This is misleading.

  52. Anti Joke Chicken says:

Actually, the Halifax recently tore down Occupy Halifax with Brute force… The donut rule is universal, you cop, you work for donut, the end.

  53. Bigals says:

Was all fun and games till the Policeman drew his gun out and shot cause you painted your watergun black.

  54. Thorodal says:

Someone should recaption this, adding this pic: (Germany) :P

  55. Anna says:

Teh second picture is from thailand, when they had the waterfight that happens once every year there.

    • TDotWitch says:

Wow you must be stunned. It’s Toronto. That’s the Toronto Police insignia on his uniform. Look it up.

  56. Turismo80 says:

This picture is a lie. Canadian cops don’t carry guns. They carry unicorn fart dispensers.

  57. seilos says:

So,basically, what this picture is saying that eveybody in Canada is gay?

  58. What about... says:

    BUT!
    Meanwhile in soviet Russia…

  59. Austin says:

Notice they aren’t blocking roads and sidewalks in Canada…

  60. OlaCola20 says:

I prefer Canada than America sometimes /shot

  61. AlwaysJon says:

Every comment can be compiled into this single one. Canada is better. The End.

  62. Lindz says:

Another “Subtle but important difference”: one cop is controlling a protest crowd, one is guarding people in line at some event…just sayin….

  63. FatMammie says:

The second pic is one of my favorites.

  64. pedretta says:

is it me or does that Asian guy in the middle look like Glenn from the walking dead? O.o

  65. charro says:

That’s TOTALLY the USA in both pictures.. everyone knows they speak Canadian in Canadia.. clearly his “POLICE” badge IN AMERICAN gives it away!

  66. J.D.Moshen says:

Canada? I do believe you mean Soviet Russia.

  67. ethos12 says:

Those patient enough to sift through 300+ comments might like to ask themselves if every place in the US is subtropically warm year-round (because Florida is), then consider reevaluating the “well-established” coldness of Canada (as a unit). Given that many Americans ridicule Buffalo winters and celebrate the frozen tundra of Lambeau Field, there’s enough Arctic to go around… and last time I looked, Alaska (north of most of Canada) was still a US state. Some parts of almost any country you can name will be intemperate – unfortunately no good climate-news from Canada can compensate for the national shame of Bieber.

  68. Gretch says:

please also notice that the canadian cop is hott

and the US cop is fat…

  69. Henri says:

    OBJECTION!!

  70. ThisIs says:

Well then again Canadians enforced the War Measure Act which pretty much gave up the rights of Canadians. But this was pretty much because of the FLQ. We created 2 hockey riots but 1 was just people that wanted to watch the world burn(literally), and we gave Americans Bieber. Plus the Canadian Airborne Regiment were Neo-Nazis, and we killed a guy who couldn’t speak English from a tazer. So we have flaws too in our history but American’s do too.

  71. MightyMachines says:

Trolling? Because Toronto has a Chinatown section.

  72. murray says:

Sometimes I like to pretend I’m a dinosaur.

  73. ArmyGuy543 says:

I don’t want to live in this country anymore.

  74. of course like your web site but you have to check the spelling on quite a few of your posts. Several of them are rife with spelling issues and I to find it very bothersome to tell the reality then again I will definitely come back again.

  75. Isulf says:

    I think is better canada

  76. COOPER says:

    Glen lives in Canada?

    • Kait says:

I CAN’T BELIEVE THAT NO WALKING DEAD FANS SAID ANYTHING IN THE LAST 400 COMMENTS! i thought i was the only one who saw that!

  77. your mother says:

that was a gay pride parade… fail canada…fail
