That actually looks like him…
That’s the point.
Troll is troll-y
Captain obvious is obvious!
Win. Take that Harper
HAH!
Probably the best one.
Don’t care, live in America, LULZ.
*facepalm*
CANADA IS IN FREAKING AMERICA!!!
…Excuse me?
I think he means America as in North America…
Good sir, I believe you are ignorant. The United States of America, as the name implies, are only a part of America. North America, to be exact.
Don’t be pedantic. If you were actually looking for *context* you’d note that by using the term “America,” the United States of America was the implication. The word America can be functionally be utilized as an abbreviation, or to refer to “The Americas” aka the North and South American continents. Much like how the word “ass” can refer to a mule, or to some douche on the internet who thinks he’s being clever by correcting people when they are not, indeed, incorrect.
Despite your clever attempt at subtlety, I understand that you are calling me both an ass and a douche, which I find most uncivilized. While it is common for U.S. citizens to refer to their country as America, it is still incorrect, America being not a country but a set of continents. As I said, the name “United States of America” implies that the country is only a part of America, and therefore should not be referred to as America. And yes, I was actually looking for context, which is obvious considering that I understood Adam was referring exclusively to the U.S.. If I hadn’t been looking for context, Adam’s comment would have made no sense, and I would not have replied. Now good day, sir.
Following your illogical logic, we should call the “United states of America” the “United States”. It would be more appropriate. But yeah, united-staters believe they own the world, or at least the entire America.
“Great Britain” is not a country moron, it is made up of the countries Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and England. You sir are a simpleton.
Great Britain is an island within the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland – which is one country – that is made up of four countries. It’s confusing, which is why you seem to be confused about it StickyMicky. It is perfectly acceptable to refer to the entire UK as Britain. The same is it is acceptable to refer to the US as America. It’s not strictly correct, but everyone knows what you mean.
TROLOLOLOLOL
TL;DR
i like pie
NORTH America. The U.S. is commonly referred to as “America” as it’s easier to say than the United States of America a million freakin’ times, and U.S., like any acronym, is awkward to say. Moron.
‘U.S.’ is an initialism, not an acronym. An acronym is an abbreviation where you say the letters as a word e.g. NATO. You will not that acronyms are actually quite easy to say, and often pass as a normal word in conversation e.g. TASER. Regardless, discussion of what is ‘awkward to say’ is irrelevant when posting on the internet, since an argument could easily be made that it is in fact easier to type ‘USA’ than ‘America’. I hope this has been both informative and helpful. Moron.
Are you Latin American? Because only in Latin America is it taught that America encompasses everything between Canada and Chile. Most of the other countries in world’s schools teach you that America refers exclusively to USA.
NORTH America refers to North America. If we wanted to be super, super technical, America would refer to both Americas, North and South.
For all purposes of discussion, though, America means United States of America.
Yup! learnt to live with that reality back when I started learning English.
Not ! The others countries in world’s shcools teach that americas refers to the Americas (north ans south) and USA refers to USA
hence the fact that I didn’t use the world “all” in that particular statement.
*word
You seem to forget one thing : people in the U.S. think they’re the only one that matter. So let them think they own the whole continent and that this continent refers to them exclusively. Otherwise, a wild debate about WW2 and how their ancestors have saved our ancestors (wherever you live, they saved the whole world…) will appear.
About every single nation in the world thinks they’re the best of the best. The “United-Statians” are not the only ones proud of themselves by a really long shot.
I am Latin American, specifically a Québécois. We call the continent ”Amérique” = America. Your opinion about what world-wide schools teach about geography is irrelevant to the fact USA citizens use ambiguous language out of tradition and bigottry.
No. Quebecois call it “L’Amerique du Nord”. STFU. Poseur.
Or ‘Les Ameriques’ when refering to all of ‘America’.
But in french, America, as in the U.S., is refered to as ‘les Etas-Unis’.
So… Youre both kind of wrong. :]
Nope. L’Amérique. Try again.
Not. Amérique du Nord + Amérique du Sud égale encore Amérique.
Voilà. Me semble que c’est pas compliqué. Merci.
“United-Statians” are not the only ones who use “American” to describe “a US citizen,” trust me,
and that is in part due to the fact “United-Statian” isn’t an official term.
You’ll be Canadian forever, even if Quebec becomes its own country, because your birth certificate says so. As much as I disagree with using the term “Latin” to refer exclusively to Spanish, you still can’t call yourself Latin American, despite knowing French.
Dear Whiteoverblue.
Thank you for displaying your total lack of knowledge about Québec. My birth certificate is delivered by the government of my nation : Québec, and no other nation is mentionned on it.
Brazil is considered part of Latin America too, but they have Portuguese as the official language. Though you have one good point in your incorrect ranting : most of the time, Québec isn’t included in Latin America, but it sometimes is and I consider it part of it.
You’re welcome.
quebec est une province.. (faceplam)
Dude wtf, Quebec is in Canada, you’re not Latin American unless you immigrated, even then you wouldn’t call yourself specifically Québécois. You keep using that word, I don’t think you know what that word means
Not true – England here and we were taught that there’s North America, which contains the USA, and South America, and together they make up “The Americas”
That’s good and I don’t disagree with you, but what do your country folks refer to when you just use the word “America?”
In Latin America, that word alone encompasses both continents as a single unit (which explains why our Geography knowledge says that there are only 5 continents excluding Antarctica).
Nobody outside the US says “we are going to America”. We say “we are going to the US” or “to the States”.
Do me a favour mate, if somebody said to you I’m going to America you wouldn’t say “which country?” You’d say something like “Oh nice, New York?”
I say both, and couldn’t give a toss which I use, because people know what I mean when I say America.
You surround yourself with more geographically correct people in that case.
Being Mexican-Canadian, I met people from all over the world (because of Toronto’s multiculturalism). Their idea of the word “America” disagrees 100% with your statement.
(except for the Spanish Speakers of course)
I live on the Canada/US border (on the Canadian side) and whenever I don’t say “I’m going across”, I say “I’m going to the States.” I hear the US or the States far more often than I ever hear America, but I do still hear it. It’s just less common.
TL;DR, They’re all used to refer to the US, whether or not the terms are all technically correct.
No one cares Canadian, now go in you corner and cry because of the fact that Canada will never be as awesome as America, even during a financial recession.
Chill your mullet nobody wants to get all Canada VS America but if it were a match Canada would win I’m American so I’m not just saying that but it’s true statistics show that most Canadians are smarter than Americans
I don’t know if we are smarter. But it’s a better place to live in, for sure.
by sheer probability the US has more citizens, so we’re bound to have idiots. I would agree that Canada would be a better place to live in than my current residence.
Ah, American arrogance in it’s most blatant form! I don’t see Canadians trampling people to death over a few measly objects on sale.
No. Just when a hockey team loses.
Lol
I live in down town Vancouver, that was crazy!
This.
No one died…. Sadly.
You do realise there have been soccer riots where 47 people died in other countries..
Yeah, Canada, with it’s incredible health care, economic stability, open-minded tolerance (despite the best efforts of our Prime Minister), and attitude towards world relations that goes beyond ‘shoot them and take their resources for ourselves’ – right, WE’LL never be as awesome as YOU.
Methinks you are in denial, my sad patriotic friend.
THIS ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Canadians will never be as fat as Americans either LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL
I’m sorry, I can’t hear over our Loonie kicking USA Dollar ass!
Dont worry we will just shrug you off and forgive you.
AreYouSeriousFace.png
can’t tell if trolling, or stupid
do you live in canada, u.s. mexico, guatemala, puerto rico, peru, bolivia, argentina, brazil, uruguay, paraguay……??
who’s this?
Stephen Harper, Prime Minister of Canada.
What’s Canada?
america’s hat, land of maple syrup and beavers
…and snow, soo much snow
What is america?
America is Canada’s ass..
Canada’s ass.
epic lol! XD
I love your comeback
America is Canada’s ass, and Canada is America’s hat.
Therefore Canada is an asshat.
This, makes no sense ^
So are you saying the US is an ass? Seems about right.
Would that make Mexico sh!t?
rofl
land of racists and guns
Seen worse nations.
America’s Hat?? Seriously?? That is sooooooo old. Go back into your basement and try again. Maybe something original perhaps?
its Feb 6 near Toronto and theres nooooo snow….. im sad
lies! Everybody knows Stephen Harper is a robot, and thusly was never a child.
Haha, YES!
=D
Yessss! Yesss! A robot that eats kittens for sustenance.
This made my week. His politics really do mimic the behaviours of Annoying Childhood Friend.
This made my day as well.
Jean Charest is even more resembling. God I hate both of them, Harper is better though. Ugh, canadian politics.
SO MUCH WIN.
Dat font. ._.
Makes sense. Not a fan of that fellow.
This sir, is full of WIN!
Thank God, you know how to use punctuation!
XD <— Seriously, I made that face. LOL. It's bad to think that yet it's so funny and true. *Snickers*
Islamism <..> Why was he re-elected again?
Agreed, I wanted Jack Layton to be elected
(May he rest in peace)
why was bush elected again?
“Everyone still hates him”
Everyone except the 5 million+ people that voted for him and won him a majority government, I suppose!
Thin air doesn’t count as people.
well … yeah but the fact that almost every one under 18 hates him and that the liberals s had the worst leader ever and the fact that very few people actually trust the NDP despite Jack Layton being awesome more people voted for their Mps than for Pm the conservative Mps are actually not half bad (and that comes from some one who is Liberal) But I know for a fact that Quebec hates him most of Ontario hates him out of the big 3 provinces Only Bc actually supports him
That’s actually not true I live in B.C. and almost everyone I know thinks he a huge douche
Nobody votes for their MP. That’s how the politics work, but when I voted NDP for my MP, I was really voting for Jack Layton.
RIP bon Jack.
BC supports Harper?!?! You mad bro? I think you meant Alberta
Except Edmonton
BC support a Conservative? You better be in BC because then you have legal pot as an excuse. BC is so NDP it’s trees have Orange sap.
BC isn’t one of the ‘big three’ provinces, at least not money wise. BC is severely in debt!
Alberta has the best economy in regards to population, and pulls the rest of Canada out of debt with it’s natural gas industry.
ma-ma-ma-mama said ma-ma-mama said ma-mama said he the devil!
They said i could be anything, so i changed my ethnicity and dyed my hair brownish.
YES.
Long live the NDP, and RIP Jack Layton, the man who should’ve been Prime Minister. He was an older version of Good Guy Greg, really.
Seconded.
Thirded
Fourthed.
Is that even a word?
Fifthed. I met him once. I thought they were trolling when I heard he’d passed away =(
I wouldn’t say so. He didn’t tip servers at restaurants, even if the bill was over a hundred dollars. He would say “If you were unionized, you wouldn’t need to depend on tips for an income.”
Still better than most politicians.
I’d want to see proof to back that up, but even so that’s an awesome justification. Tipping as a whole is a terrible and exploitative practice similar to the labour abuses that led to the jimmy hoffa style unions. If I screw up at work, the company pays for it. If a server screws up, the server pays for it through lost wages or “tips”. It’s a great way for a business owner to download financial risk onto his employees.
If the cook or the dishwasher or the bartender or another server altogether screws up, the server pays for it.
He has a point.
I actually found that kinda hilarious.
Yep… He totally looks like the kid… Maybe HE IS the kid?
Ahh… now I see why canuks are so stupid. You get the one guy with a brain into office, and people hate him for being reasonable
He doesn’t have a brain, he’s not reasonable, and you’re an idiot.
Lol, silly Americans. Silly, silly, silly.
Silly Albertans. Silly, silly, silly!
You, Spelt Canuck wrong, dumbass
I think that the fact that you can relate with his politics says more than enough about what kind of a person you are.
Because I have an impression of what kind of a person you are I should probably give you a clue because you probably wouldn’t get this.
It starts with an I and ends with diot.
Google is RIGHT THERE, man. You can’t just type in your failed spelling of canuck to see whether or not you got it right?
P.S. Since you aren’t Canadian, I’m guessing you don’t follow our politics much. In the States, it’s much easier to follow politics because it’s all over the media, but here, you have to do research. So please do some research before commenting on how “reasonable” Harper is.
Ha ha! Awesome!
But his lipstick always looks fantastic!
my face when i voted for him.
IT ALL MAKES SENCE
Stupid Canadian humor.
*humour
lolz
If I could vote down your ignorant comment, I would. These sites are saturated with American politics, but they put up one joke about Canadian politics and you just have to complain. We get it. You’re American. You’re a douche. Congrats.
I knew I saw that face somewhere!
Why am I reminded of JFK?
Because that’s how he looked after the assassination?
And our first Prime Minister was an alcoholic, just to give you a good idea.
Stephen Harper = George Bush
… relatively speaking
No way! no one is as awesome as George W!
George Bush was an idiot who made so bad moves.
Steven Harper is outright malevolent.
He’s not THAT bad, but I see what you’re getting at.
…is it me, or is this like Stormbreaker, that Alex Rider book? Where the annoying child becomes prime minister?
Or am I being a hipster and nobody’s even heard of this?
I feel you, bro.
Trudeau was worse…..just saying
He looks like Crispin Gloverrrrrrrr
What about RB Bennett?
whoever made this, thank you. You made my day.
LOL this actually made my day.
yes yes yes yes yes
memebase has earned Canada’s forever-love just now. Dont understand how they got a stupid majority. facepalm for calling an election at a perfect time for Harper.
In the end, it’s probably better that Layton didn’t win.His death wouldn’t make Canada’s situation any better.
I’d have taken May, or Ignatia over Harper. Ducep only loses since his party doesn’t run in enough seats to be Prime Minister.
Ducep lost because of Marois
this is honestly one of the best things i’ve ever seen on memebase. if only jack layton was still among us….. R.I.P. Jack
regardless, annoying childhood friend looks JUST LIKE a childhood replica of stephen harper…….. they look alike, therefore, it is a funny. all political affiliations aside. I’m pretty sure that’s all the deeper it goes. it’s a meme.
Ugh… the shocking truth
hey guys, did you know that long comments about religion and/or government are really worth reading?
Jean Chretien FTW!!!!!!!!
This post is amazing. Look at all the ignorant American comments. People who can’t look beyond their own fat, lazy, gun toting borders for anything.
Luckily the States will collapse in on itself soon enough. Floods, larger recessions.
And then Canada will fall into their hole as well. I’m Canadian, but I don’t think that my country is a bastion of financial security. If America “collapses” that’s the worlds biggest market coming down on our heads.
I love the fact that everyone generalizes Americans into the fat and lazy stereotypes. We’re 17th in world obesity, and we work a longer work day and are more productive than 90 percent of the rest of the developed world.
false. youre fat and chinese people works +60 hours weekly while youre crying about your weak 45 hours per week. sorry you over-confident usa douche.
Canadian politics, ftw. This made me truly ‘lol’. Fantastic!
The Canadian empire begins with Iceland soon the world shall be ours!
i read every comment, now i can go to bed.
