  1. KelRen says:

    That actually looks like him…

  2. Bigkoolal says:

    Win. Take that Harper

  3. ReigionOfEvolution says:

    Probably the best one.

  4. Adam says:

Don’t care, live in America, LULZ.

    • That Guy says:

      *facepalm*
      CANADA IS IN FREAKING AMERICA!!!

      • Wandell says:

        …Excuse me?

        • ProtoCan says:

I think he means America as in North America…

        • That Guy says:

Good sir, I believe you are ignorant. The United States of America, as the name implies, are only a part of America. North America, to be exact.

          • TheyCallMeTomu says:

Don’t be pedantic. If you were actually looking for *context* you’d note that by using the term “America,” the United States of America was the implication. The word America can be functionally be utilized as an abbreviation, or to refer to “The Americas” aka the North and South American continents. Much like how the word “ass” can refer to a mule, or to some douche on the internet who thinks he’s being clever by correcting people when they are not, indeed, incorrect.

            • That Guy says:

Despite your clever attempt at subtlety, I understand that you are calling me both an ass and a douche, which I find most uncivilized. While it is common for U.S. citizens to refer to their country as America, it is still incorrect, America being not a country but a set of continents. As I said, the name “United States of America” implies that the country is only a part of America, and therefore should not be referred to as America. And yes, I was actually looking for context, which is obvious considering that I understood Adam was referring exclusively to the U.S.. If I hadn’t been looking for context, Adam’s comment would have made no sense, and I would not have replied. Now good day, sir.

              • You fail says:

Following your illogical logic, we should call the “United states of America” the “United States”. It would be more appropriate. But yeah, united-staters believe they own the world, or at least the entire America.

              • StickyMicky says:

“Great Britain” is not a country moron, it is made up of the countries Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and England. You sir are a simpleton.

                • TheC says:

Great Britain is an island within the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland – which is one country – that is made up of four countries. It’s confusing, which is why you seem to be confused about it StickyMicky. It is perfectly acceptable to refer to the entire UK as Britain. The same is it is acceptable to refer to the US as America. It’s not strictly correct, but everyone knows what you mean.

              • Harbinger2842 says:

                TL;DR

              • clever devil says:

                i like pie

      • Truth says:

NORTH America. The U.S. is commonly referred to as “America” as it’s easier to say than the United States of America a million freakin’ times, and U.S., like any acronym, is awkward to say. Moron.

        • Flip says:

‘U.S.’ is an initialism, not an acronym. An acronym is an abbreviation where you say the letters as a word e.g. NATO. You will not that acronyms are actually quite easy to say, and often pass as a normal word in conversation e.g. TASER. Regardless, discussion of what is ‘awkward to say’ is irrelevant when posting on the internet, since an argument could easily be made that it is in fact easier to type ‘USA’ than ‘America’. I hope this has been both informative and helpful. Moron.

      • Whiteoverblue says:

Are you Latin American? Because only in Latin America is it taught that America encompasses everything between Canada and Chile. Most of the other countries in world’s schools teach you that America refers exclusively to USA.

        • Peregrine says:

NORTH America refers to North America. If we wanted to be super, super technical, America would refer to both Americas, North and South.

For all purposes of discussion, though, America means United States of America.

        • fromtheothercountries says:

Not ! The others countries in world’s shcools teach that americas refers to the Americas (north ans south) and USA refers to USA

        • JohnBobMacFoof says:

You seem to forget one thing : people in the U.S. think they’re the only one that matter. So let them think they own the whole continent and that this continent refers to them exclusively. Otherwise, a wild debate about WW2 and how their ancestors have saved our ancestors (wherever you live, they saved the whole world…) will appear.

          • Whiteoverblue says:

About every single nation in the world thinks they’re the best of the best. The “United-Statians” are not the only ones proud of themselves by a really long shot.

        • Orly says:

I am Latin American, specifically a Québécois. We call the continent ”Amérique” = America. Your opinion about what world-wide schools teach about geography is irrelevant to the fact USA citizens use ambiguous language out of tradition and bigottry.

          • Ben says:

No. Quebecois call it “L’Amerique du Nord”. STFU. Poseur.

          • Whiteoverblue says:

“United-Statians” are not the only ones who use “American” to describe “a US citizen,” trust me, ;-) and that is in part due to the fact “United-Statian” isn’t an official term.

You’ll be Canadian forever, even if Quebec becomes its own country, because your birth certificate says so. As much as I disagree with using the term “Latin” to refer exclusively to Spanish, you still can’t call yourself Latin American, despite knowing French.

            • Orly says:

              Dear Whiteoverblue.
Thank you for displaying your total lack of knowledge about Québec. My birth certificate is delivered by the government of my nation : Québec, and no other nation is mentionned on it.

Brazil is considered part of Latin America too, but they have Portuguese as the official language. Though you have one good point in your incorrect ranting : most of the time, Québec isn’t included in Latin America, but it sometimes is and I consider it part of it.

              You’re welcome.

          • KdaMB1320 says:

Dude wtf, Quebec is in Canada, you’re not Latin American unless you immigrated, even then you wouldn’t call yourself specifically Québécois. You keep using that word, I don’t think you know what that word means

        • bobbiraptor says:

Not true – England here and we were taught that there’s North America, which contains the USA, and South America, and together they make up “The Americas”

          • Whiteoverblue says:

That’s good and I don’t disagree with you, but what do your country folks refer to when you just use the word “America?”

In Latin America, that word alone encompasses both continents as a single unit (which explains why our Geography knowledge says that there are only 5 continents excluding Antarctica).

            • MrBriggs says:

Nobody outside the US says “we are going to America”. We say “we are going to the US” or “to the States”.

              • momo says:

Do me a favour mate, if somebody said to you I’m going to America you wouldn’t say “which country?” You’d say something like “Oh nice, New York?”

I say both, and couldn’t give a toss which I use, because people know what I mean when I say America.

              • Whiteoverblue says:

You surround yourself with more geographically correct people in that case.

Being Mexican-Canadian, I met people from all over the world (because of Toronto’s multiculturalism). Their idea of the word “America” disagrees 100% with your statement. ;) (except for the Spanish Speakers of course)

              • Seddah says:

I live on the Canada/US border (on the Canadian side) and whenever I don’t say “I’m going across”, I say “I’m going to the States.” I hear the US or the States far more often than I ever hear America, but I do still hear it. It’s just less common.

TL;DR, They’re all used to refer to the US, whether or not the terms are all technically correct.

      • Bhz2797 says:

No one cares Canadian, now go in you corner and cry because of the fact that Canada will never be as awesome as America, even during a financial recession.

      • lolwut? says:

    “Everyone still hates him”

Everyone except the 5 million+ people that voted for him and won him a majority government, I suppose!

    • Dartyus says:

Thin air doesn’t count as people.

    • Redredemption says:

well … yeah but the fact that almost every one under 18 hates him and that the liberals s had the worst leader ever and the fact that very few people actually trust the NDP despite Jack Layton being awesome more people voted for their Mps than for Pm the conservative Mps are actually not half bad (and that comes from some one who is Liberal) But I know for a fact that Quebec hates him most of Ontario hates him out of the big 3 provinces Only Bc actually supports him

  15. EASTON_POPE says:

ma-ma-ma-mama said ma-ma-mama said ma-mama said he the devil!

  16. wat says:

They said i could be anything, so i changed my ethnicity and dyed my hair brownish.

  17. John says:

    YES.

Long live the NDP, and RIP Jack Layton, the man who should’ve been Prime Minister. He was an older version of Good Guy Greg, really.

  18. Bellaluna says:

I actually found that kinda hilarious.

  19. Not a Canuk says:

Ahh… now I see why canuks are so stupid. You get the one guy with a brain into office, and people hate him for being reasonable

    • Peregrine says:

He doesn’t have a brain, he’s not reasonable, and you’re an idiot.

    • Etihan says:

      You, Spelt Canuck wrong, dumbass

    • Stranger says:

I think that the fact that you can relate with his politics says more than enough about what kind of a person you are.

Because I have an impression of what kind of a person you are I should probably give you a clue because you probably wouldn’t get this.

It starts with an I and ends with diot.

    • Seddah says:

Google is RIGHT THERE, man. You can’t just type in your failed spelling of canuck to see whether or not you got it right?

P.S. Since you aren’t Canadian, I’m guessing you don’t follow our politics much. In the States, it’s much easier to follow politics because it’s all over the media, but here, you have to do research. So please do some research before commenting on how “reasonable” Harper is.

  20. sableantelope says:

But his lipstick always looks fantastic!

  21. Jahavad says:

my face when i voted for him.

And our first Prime Minister was an alcoholic, just to give you a good idea.

  26. ThatCanadianGirl says:

    Stephen Harper = George Bush
    … relatively speaking

  27. Shadow says:

memebase has earned Canada’s forever-love just now. Dont understand how they got a stupid majority. facepalm for calling an election at a perfect time for Harper.

  34. Alex2 says:

In the end, it’s probably better that Layton didn’t win.His death wouldn’t make Canada’s situation any better.

  39. hah says:

    Jean Chretien FTW!!!!!!!! :D

  40. nurg. says:

This post is amazing. Look at all the ignorant American comments. People who can’t look beyond their own fat, lazy, gun toting borders for anything.

Luckily the States will collapse in on itself soon enough. Floods, larger recessions. :D

    • Dunny says:

And then Canada will fall into their hole as well. I’m Canadian, but I don’t think that my country is a bastion of financial security. If America “collapses” that’s the worlds biggest market coming down on our heads.

    • Hippin says:

I love the fact that everyone generalizes Americans into the fat and lazy stereotypes. We’re 17th in world obesity, and we work a longer work day and are more productive than 90 percent of the rest of the developed world.

      • mike says:

false. youre fat and chinese people works +60 hours weekly while youre crying about your weak 45 hours per week. sorry you over-confident usa douche.
