The Star Wars movie series didn’t originally start with 4, 5, & 6. It was much later when they decided the story of Darth Vader/Anakin Skywalker was interesting they should make 3 more movies thus being the prequel of the original triology.

3 was pretty good, and even 1 and 2 weren’t bad, really. Maybe they couldn’t live up to the hype, but still, I’ve seen a lot worse.

The only way I can even bear watching Attack of the Clones is in French, where they clearly had someone editing as they translated. Why did anyone on the cast of that movie not take a page from Harrison Ford’s book and ad lib ALL THEIR LINES?

that’s your opinion, but if you really read the series, and then watched the movies, i don’t think you would be so biased against it.
Why do people say “Read the series,” as if its impossible to not like them. Yes, I have never read them, and I won’t because I would find them boring. I don’t have to read them to know this. I never watched Sex and the City, but I know that I would not like it, because it’s a genre that I could care less about. I’ve never read HP (saw the first movie, boring, didn’t watch the rest), but I know that I wouldn’t like them, because they’re a genre in which I have no interest. This stuff is all matters of opinions anyways. For me, the best novels adapted to film are:
Trainspotting, The Godfather, A Clockwork Orange, Fight Club, LA Confidential, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, The Outsiders, Goodfellas, Apocalypse Now, The Shining
And then there have been awesome books that were poor films, such as Catch-22, To Kill a Mockingbird, 1984, Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, Alice in Wonderland, Lord of the Flies, etc…
The point I’m making is that HP is hardly the be-all-end-all of novels adapted to film. Maybe I don’t have the same tastes as other people on here (I think superhero movies are also boring), but I just don’t get what all the hype is about.

i started off with star wars, and i like it alot

In Harry Potter the dark wizards, or whoev they are, weren’t actively trying to hunt down the whole world from day one and were the “Ultimate Power in the Universe.” They were the minority and most anybody didn’t know who they were.
So Star Wars goes from massive struggle the turns into a character struggle showing that the “real gut-turner” is that OMG they made another one and there are Sith all over the place. Which yes the Jedi knew, but the general public didn’t.
I’m sorry but a galactic struggle of good and evil along with a struggle of the force is more epic and gut-turning than a struggle of a few with magical powers.

But Snape isn’t actually evil (although he does convey that impression). The only innocent person he kills in the series is Dumbledore, but Dumbledore would have been killed anyway, and by doing it himself he gets to infiltrate the bad guys.
On the other hand, Vader goes around killing people for very little reason. Even killing billions of innocent people (and their entire world) simply to inspire fear. He only has a change of heart at the very end.

Technically Vader was seduced by the Dark Side and the Emperor, and Vader’s real intention was to rule the galaxy keeping peace and order in his new Empire with Padme. But of course Anakin had this dream and becoming Vader he lost track of it all when Palpatine lied to him constantly and Anakin slowly lost all hopes of ever becoming the greatest Jedi, he was now the most powerful Sith Lord. So saying Vader is heartless isn’t very Valid to your point.
The ability to do magic is nothing compared to the power of the force.

Harry Potter books are almost as awesome as Star Wars movies, but the HP movies suck.
Harry Potter wins. Hands down. Star Wars is pretty popular, but this is the Harry Potter generation (which is NOT over D:<) and I personally think Harry Potter is just more creative. "Oh but they made up a huge galaxy in Star Wars blah blah blah…" I know, but it was so predictable throughout the whole thing, and in the Harry Potter books/movies I was actually surprised. Which I love because it isn't just all boring and the same.
It is over: I used to like that when I was 13 y-o. By the time the 6th book and 5th movie got out, it was already very much like “meh”
Plus, in my book, kids doing magic to fight grown ups that, oddly enough can’t be beat them, means kids movies. It doesn’t matter if the backgrounds are dark and if a few people die, it’s still something I’d stop being interested in before reaching 16 y-o
