Intertube Records: Roll a D6

Incorrect source or offensive?

» Read 171 Trolls (and some comments)

  1. L4NC3L0T says:

Does it make me a nerd that I’m jealous of these kids because I can’t play D&D because I left my set back home before I pcs’d? =[

    Also 1st.. I think

    • Rémi says:

      U jelly?

    • jane says:

yes, but I don’t see that as a bad thing. I’m jealous because I’ve never played D&D and have always wanted to (and I’m a girl).

      • Crash Fistfight says:

I’ve always wanted to play PnP D&D as well, but have only ever played it on my comp

      • EchoMirage says:

You can always find a few friendly geeks at your local game store / game club / college / con / faire ^_^

        Give it a shot.

        • miss riddle says:

Yeah, there’s a HUUUUGE club at the local community club near my house that plays D&D and Magic the Gathering. I never went to the college but I just came in today to hang out with friends (didn’t participate, I don’t think it’s my thing) and apparently they let anyone in the club.

You could look around for something like that.

      • Ellen says:

        Me toooooo

      • bananacat says:

I actually found a great gaming group on Craigslist when I moved to a different state after college. Some groups are weird about women, but most of them are cool now that nerdiness is more mainstream.

    • Mikey says:

PCS’D? Which branch? Wait til you get field ops and spend all day playing cards.

  2. xsplitdivision says:

My DM stole my girlfriend :(

  3. mattow says:

This video is fake, girls don’t play this kind of nonsense nerd roleplay game.

  4. Kurkuror says:

THAT! gave me a goose bumps over my back. Seriously creeps me out

  5. awwww says:

    Were i live we don’t have D&D.

However, i see a hot girl play it, so now i want in!

  6. Landers says:

you’d be surprise. Had a couple of hot girls at my game table.

  7. Wilxy-X says:

w00t, the makers rolled high on their perform checks.

  8. Deadpiksel says:

    You roll a D20 for checks. Not a D6.
Is it bad that this bothers me?

  9. Nerdicus says:

I know it makes me a nerd, but i feel that i MUST point out that the girl who claims to be a Wizard would not have a bow and Arrow, she would have a staff.

The boy that claims to be a Ranger would have a bow and Arrow and not a sword, Swords are for Worriors.

    • Mosethyoth says:

I actually thought so too. Does this make us geeks?

(Actually I’ve never played D&D in RL but I look exactly at the stuff I get to watch)

    • Cooter says:

Notice: They never said what game they are playing. In their game, a Ranger may fight with swords.

P.S. The only games I have ever seen a ranger get pigeon-holed into just ranged combat are MMOs. And keep in mind that Aragorn in Lord of the Rings is known as a “ranger”.

    • Leeyoo says:

i feel nerdy for saying this. but sir

she could be multi-classed with a bard or ranger so she could have a bow and arrow

and as for the ranger, dual wield? rangers can definitely use swords…

after explaining that I think a part of my soul just died

    • Keairan says:

I’m not that big a fan of 4e, but I have played it (some). Sorcerors have implements that can be daggers and such (but then again, I think all classes can use daggers in the earlier versions). Multi-classing is seemingly based more on feats than actual taking of levels in other classes. I much prefer 3.5 (the only other version I’ve played)

  10. Hipster says:

    d6? Pfft, I only roll d5s, d13s and d17s.

  11. whatever says:

That was not an authentic nerd female.

  12. THEmadchikin says:

    Awesome video, hot chick.

But -1 internets for playing 4E

    • KimWW says:

You get 1000 xp just for saying that.

    • hwut says:

Pathfinder’s where it’s at. Long live the 3.5

      • THEmadchikin says:

you mean 3.75? I’m a PF kid, but I still have all my 3.5 stuff. I like what Paizo has done with the legacy of Gygax

    • Lindsey says:

      3.5 all the way

    • MLH says:

-1 internets for using color film instead of black and white too, since apparently using superior systems lowers your internets

    • Domenic says:

I never understood the 4e hate. I’ve never played it, but I read the PH and it seemed alright. Yes, I prefer 3.5 (which is why my group still plays that), but the systems aren’t different enough to warrant such a division amongst D&D fans.

      • Horatio says:

I’m gonna be pursuaded by this! I roll will to save!

Oh, yours is passive? Too bad! No natural 20 saves :D

      • NotParticularlyGhetto says:

I’m not quite sure which version of the PH you read, Domenic, but the systems are completely different.

We play-tested 4e in our regular group for three months, and at the end decided that it wouldn’t ever be played again at that table. It’s different enough that we don’t even call it D&D.

We’ve since started up a Pathfinder game, which takes the best parts of 4e’s streamlining and brings them to 3.5 while leaving all the “Wait, What Now?” bits on the shelf.

        • Domenic says:

I disagree. While I admit that it is different, I didn’t feel it was SO different (at least not as different as AD&D 2 and D&D 3 were. THAT took some adjustment.)
Maybe I have to convince my group to give it a try, just so we can fully understand how evil it is. Or, we could try this Pathfinder you mention. Do you recommend it over 3.5?

          • Domenic says:

So I went to B&N earlier today and reread the PH, and I take back everything I said. IT IS AN ABOMINATION. Healing surges, 1/2 level automatic skills, such strictly dictated class roles? It felt like reading the manual for an MMO!
They didn’t have Pathfinder, but if it has any of the streamlining 4e has, I’ll stay far, far away. This makes me appreciate 3.5 so much more…

            • lutum says:

its nothing like 4.0 if you ask me. just take 3.5 and add a few easier to understand directions in character creation and then add a few new spells and class skills. it really is just like 3.5 but better, but they don’t have the extensive amount of books for pathfinder

              • NotParticularlyGhetto says:

I applaud your willingness to research, Domenic, and the self-esteem that allowed you to come back here and retract.

                Yes, I recommend Pathfinder.

Pathfinder takes the streamlining that actually makes sense… like greatly simplifying all the combat maneuvers (trip, disarm, grapple) that noone used in 3.5 because they were so dice-heavy with opposed rolls that it bogged down a combat instantly. Now, you have a static defense, just like AC, against those sort of maneuvers.

It also combined a number of skills that were related in 3.5; Tumble, Jump, and Balance are all just now “Acrobatics”, for example.

And almost all of the 3.5 sources are directly portable into Pathfinder.

You can read more about Pathfinder at the open reference document: http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/

  13. Doceorcecat says:

I made it to 12 seconds before I lost interest

    • Mylittlebada$$ponyofdeath says:

Lol yeah as soon as I figured out it was about that gay D&D crap I stopped watching. As a girl I would never play, nor would I date a guy who does.

      • Lolnathan says:

        It’s a good thing you’re 10 then!

        • Orly says:

Her boyfriend will end up be a closet-case DnD player.

She will figure out by finding a d100 in his pocket and ask herself ”what the f**k is this?”, google it, and scream in horror.

  14. PatMX says:

i am almost certain that the two chick dont play that! and also if what trully d&d player they should more …. diferent anyway good music but i my opinion this chick or is very noobish or simply dont play!

    i miss my days playing d&d! ;(

  15. Rufus the Mad says:

    MY NEW RINGTONE!!

  16. KimWW says:

Does 4e use the d6 a lot more than 3e and 3.5? Although, I suppose it is easier to rhyme than “Roll a d20″

God! I love that game! (and yes…girls do play, even hot ones)

    • Nekomata says:

Yeah, D6 really doesn’t make a TON of sense since saving throws call for a D20…but either way it’s ridiculous and funny.

    • Lindsey says:

You know I asked myself the same thing. As a strict player of 3.5 this song makes NO sense. And that annoys me to no end. Nothing worse than a D&D song that can’t even be bothered to make one lick of sense.

Either that or their DM is screwing with their heads.

      • Horatio says:

As a 4e player (and hating it, but there aren’t any other groups), I can safely say d6 is very underused. It’s the weapon die of several weapons such as the shortsword, and the damage die of controller spells, but d20 is still WAY more used.

        • blarby says:

If they hadn’t taken away all the good cleric and wizard spells, you would still use more d6′s.

Do yourself a favor, go back to 3.5 :)

      • hwut says:

        Use a d6 for a random direction.

Either that or their DM is just making the rhyme work….

What’s the choice? Make the rhyme work and have a great song and video parody that satisfies thousands of people, or make the game mechanics work and satisfy 3 anal-retentive people? <—rhetorical.

        • NotParticularlyGhetto says:

You know, I’ve also heard this a few times in this comment section, and I’m confused.

Rolling for random direction is done with a d*8*, not a d6, unless you’re playing on a hex grid.

  17. RWeed says:

Why would you roll a d6? Death saves were done using a d20.

  18. jane says:

All the guys in this vid are actually pretty hot.

  19. Nekomata says:

I’ll say that I am a chick, a rather good looking one at that…and I love D&D. I play every other weeked…ironically I am an Eladrin wizard.

  20. Phailanx says:

Wouldn’t it make more sense if it used a D6 based game rather than a D20 one?

  21. Ilenia says:

Just wanted to let you all know that girls do play D&D. I’m a girl and play and I know four others who do as well.

    • Mylittlebada$$ponyofdeath says:

I’m a girl, I don’t play. The ones I know that play are all fugly as hell.

  22. otto-moe-bill says:

D&D is too mainstream…play GURPS instead

  23. ZeeDuB2 says:

that girl is sexy, I would play capture the Basilisk with you wonder cave any night of the week

  24. HercZanzibar says:

wife material as far as im concerned

    • hwut says:

My wife and my friend’s wife were part of our D&D group. Yes they are hot. And hell yeah we married them!!

      Epic win.

  25. The-Meh-Meister says:

A wizard with bow and arrows? Women….

  26. S.T.R.I.K.E.R. says:

gross they are drinking those overpriced imported mexican cokes…

  27. vsoul says:

    4e, really?
    Pathfinder ftw

  28. Bambi says:

I think this would be me if I didn’t have the internet to play WoW. I’m just the geek of my attractive girl posse.

  29. Dante DiVongola says:

Hmm, so which one was DM again?

    • Bob says:

The Wizard guy talked like the DM and did stuff like the DM, but the only person without an avatar is the girl on the far right… I only saw 4 adventurers.

  30. TheyCallMeTomu says:

Singer reminds me of Olivia Munn.

  31. bic. says:

…I could so get into this game to hangout with that girl.

  32. DarkChaos says:

What the heck is this? she claimed to be a wizard yet was OBVIOUSLY a ranger. I call blasphemy.

  33. dragoon811 says:

um, last time I checked my habit of gaming relied mostly on d10s and d20s lol

  34. lurkerabove says:

LAME! They’re playing 4th Edition. The REAL players play 1E

    • Horatio says:

YOU ARE LIVING IN THE PAAAAST

    • silvesterstillalone says:

      I don’t always use rules sets, but when I do;

      I use D&D two.

really though, second edition with some alt rules and point based ability advancement that I ganked from dragon magazine.

    • Cooter says:

Notice: They never said what game they are playing. It may not be D&D. It could be GURPS, Palladium, D&D, Pathfinder, Traveler, a Medival Fantasy Shadowrun spin-off, Chainmail, or any number of other systems. A d6 could be used in whatever game they are using.

      • The Prancing Pony says:

That’s very true, but they have Dungeons and Dragons books clearly displayed on the table, but hell, they might just be there for no apparent reason, what do I know.

  35. Domenic says:

Maybe the d6 roll was just a really important damage roll? Though it looked like the ranger (who made the roll at the end) was using a longsword…

  36. Justin says:

Fail. You put down a white dragon token onto the play board then attack with fire in the real-life representation of what is going on in the game? White dragons are frost dragons. They should have put down a red dragon token.

  37. dude says:

    they got rid of itertubes?!

  38. Sad Crab says:

1:53 he’s totally checking her ass out behind her back

  39. HercZanzibar says:

*puts on hipster glasses* i only play 2nd edition. oh what, your armor class isn’t in the negatives?

  40. Dogstarrb says:

To those pointing out death saves are done with d20s- He’s probably one of those DMs that has the players roll the damage they take so they feel more in control of their fate.

  41. Mario Yama says:

None of you has ever had a sunburn I’m guessing. Have any of you even seen a *****?

  42. Li5y says:

That guy with the glasses is really hot O__O

  43. Solidman says:

    Parody songs always 5/5!

  44. pat says:

what’s sad about this post is you can’t put that MEMEBASE watermark on the video :(

    • patto2k says:

the admins here have edited my comment so it’s the exact opposite of my attitude.
that’s really low that you would edit somebody’s comment.

  45. Lindsay says:

I for one am a female player, and not to sound like an ass, but I’m pretty good-looking by general standards. Granted, I’m relatively new to the game, but still…

  46. Lindsay says:

Also this song is so awesome it made my head asplode. It also makes a helluva lot more sense than the original version…

Come on… what the heck is “gettin slizzer’d”?

  47. David C says:

great vid getting girls to the table is a great for morale ! but 4th edition is stupid…just sayin

  48. pogopro says:

    that chicks there sister right?

  49. teleportingfatguy says:

    Hell yeah.

  50. Rebecca Black says:

    Which class can I take?

  51. GM says:

I’ve been playing for a couple years now, and now I’m a GM for a starwars campaign and I’m about to run a call of Cthulu campaign for another group of friends, and this summer I’m going to create a new horror/action campaign for my friends to try out….

and where the hell do people find girls like that who play D&D? Cause on my search checks I’ve been rolling 1′s…

  52. Sprite101 says:

I’m sorry, in what universe do you roll a d6 if you’re about to die?

    • GM says:

the doctor who RPG uses only d6. In the starwars rpg book I own, PC’s have force points they can spend to try and save themselves and those use d6 as well. It actually is possible to only use six siders for any other type of dice roll, it’s just a real pain to do that.

  53. blarby says:

Tis is epic on so many levels…….. +1 URL of nerd power.

  54. Incessantpyre says:

My girlfriend sent me this link she has never played but really wants to and I have no one apart from her to play with. BIGGEST DILEMMA EVER!!!

    • NotParticularlyGhetto says:

Finding a gaming group can be hard; finding one that you click with can be harder; but check out the message boards for Paizo, Enworld, and a few of the other gaming sites.

Also, if you have a local gaming shop (which I know is a dying breed), look there — they often have a bulletin board, electronic or physical, for gamers in the area.

  55. derFranz says:

    roll a d10 and drink beer ;)

  56. Jackothy says:

She says she is a wizard but is an archer on the battlefewild, it dosnt matter though coz it doesnt bother me. I shouldnt have botherd to write this then.

  57. nonya says:

“I’m wizzaaard”. WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH A BOW!!!

  58. The says:

I used to play D&D but as of recently my group stopped playin. I MISS BEIN A LVL 18 FIGHTER.
