About the same thing happened to me tho mine sound a bit more stupid. I was drawing Sonic the hedgehog and a dude said “hey look, she’s drawing pokemons!” pretty lame, right… No culture.

… Not everyone who draws in public is seeking attention. Some people just want to draw something before the inspiration leaves them, or just to fill the time, or something completely unrelated to attention-seeking.
Second, have you even seen any of the Gundam series (there’s about four that I know of at least)? If you haven’t, STFU. I’ve seen Gundam 00, and it’s got a lot deeper and more mature of a plot than any Transformers series I’ve seen so far, and that would be a bout three or four of them. It’s even got a better plot than the first of the two recent movies!
Third, commenting incorrectly on someone’s drawing is almost as insulting as bashing it outright, especially when the commenter isn’t even in the ballpark. Transformers and Gundams are robots. That’s where the similarities begin and end. Even the appearance isn’t even close to similar! So get off of your high horse and try being in the situation before you bash someone.
Yeah. Saying that Gundam has a better plot than the two newest Transformers movies doesn’t say much. The newest Transformers movies barely have a plot in the first place. Whoop-di-do.
The only one on their high horse here is you. You may be able to tell the difference but the average person doesn’t. Getting upset or insulted because of a mistake like that is stupid and just shows that the “artist” is on his own high horse and needs to be brought down a few notches himself.

I think it’s funny how everyone thinks I’m actually angry that people mistake Gundams for Transformers. Honestly, I didn’t figure everyone would take this so seriously. I’m just pointing out one of those cultural quirks: in America, Transformers are more popular than Gundams. While I personally prefer Gundam, when someone mistakes my Gundam-related artwork for a Transformer, it doesn’t make their compliments any less meaningful.

Agreed on the lighten up part. I personally get very angry at anime or how ever you spell it, little geeks sit in the comic book shops freaking out cause the new edition of G lord numa numa nerodo fluffy f-entarded x just came out. I place my books (spider-man, x-men, batman, spawn, etc) then I have one of them snort and go “wow you actually like that American garbage, this is Canada” to which I replied(cause this did happen) “First you’re not Japanese, and you’re right this IS Canada, not Japan. In fact Canada is in NORTH AMERICA” After saying this he leaves me alone. I pay. He then goes “well, that art work doesn’t look real at all, the mussel proportions are not real looking” I ask to see his, and what he thinks is real looking, it’s a cover with some tooth pick with eyes so big they are bigger then his whole body, only thing bigger is thing mouth that is just a line when its closed. I felt like taking the sharp, pointy, wicket witch of the West nose, and stab him with it. This almost same event happens every time I go into a comic book shop. Almost all I run into seem to have to prove something to somebody, and I feel it is because they are insecure about their intelligence, nobody who’s smart goes around trying to prove others are not. I would rather know more about how to live, eat and take care of my self, then the difference between transformers and gundam. I will say gundam and transformers are about as close to liking anime as it gets for me.

Gateways are more accessible and, usually, worse than others of the same genre. But Transformers is still a great show.
